I have been busy the last few weeks and am just catching up on this thread. Sandy! So happy for you that you did not have a stroke. As usual, you are in fine form with your garden adventures...scorpions...oh my! Is it raining in Austin? Yesterday our garden club had their plant sale and garden tours in very cold , windy and overcast skies. I think my ears took 4 hours to finally warm up!

We're having a light mist...no rain to speak of yet. I sprinkled Milorganite around most of my plants yesterday. Then the forecasted rain didn't come, so I watered it in about 7:30 last evening in the chilly wind. Figure this is a good day to clean the house!
That was the third scorpion inside in the last few months...but only the first I found. They seem to hide around the front door and slip in.
(And...I'm glad it wasn't a stroke too...)

I wish I could've, but I was behind here. :(

I've been so bad about getting things in the ground since it got so ridiculously hot. Now that it's cooler, I hope to get some of it finished tomorrow!

DH is heading to the lake this morning to "hopefully" meet a plumber. He drove up last week and the other plumber was a no-show. This one was supposed to call us back last week...but he "lost" our phone number....on his cell phone! Uh huh...

The back corner of our yard behind the pond is the ''secret garden" where the yard dips down toward the greenbelt. The rain run-off goes thru and it's hard to get anything to grow down there. In the spirit of... Anything Worth Doing Is Worth Overdoing...here's a few flowers that my grandson and I are caring for this summer in his "spring garden." And before you ask...No, no one can see it unless they walk down behind the pond!

And I moved my plant tag cemetery down there too....(few tags of some of the many, many plants I've managed to kill...)

He does... I always wanted a grandchild to garden with and he is fun. He was here yesterday and we added a few more things. Luckily, it's hidden...to say "it's colorful" would be an understatement....

In case La Nina DOESN'T disappear this month (or this year), what do you think we should name this new desert? Chupacabra Desert....maybe?

I was at Zliker all afternoon for the flower show. There weren't nearly the entries we usually get at this time of the year. Lots of complaints about what's not growing..or blooming yet/ I like the new name of our new outpost!

Hi Lee! Yeah, the local news has to have a chupacabra story at least once or twice a year. It's like Bigfoot or Yeti for Texas.

That is a scary looking drought map. I have never heard of a chupacabra. Is that like a jackalope?

Well......there's been different "descriptions" from different locations.....but the ones in Texas (at least claimed to be Chupacabra) look more like a hairless canine creature with a slightly different dental structure than a typical dog - kinda grayish-bluish skin color. There are photos and video of "claimed-to-be"
Chupa's on the net (BTW - they're also called "Goat Sucker" - I think because of the attributed characteristic of "draining/sucking all blood from it's victims) I think they may be alien pets left behind by ET Whistling

Got a heavy downpour.....as well as marble-sized hail that ripped up the big-leafed plants - yesterday. It lasted maybe 10 - 12 minutes

Cannas, gingers, brugs, sunflowers all suffered....the smaller plants exposed suffered too....nothing that time won't heal,...but they look beraggled.
Be careful what you pray for.......we got the rain....but with an "attachment" Rolling my eyes.
God Bless America!
