Gerry, to me hybridizing it is kind of like breeding horses.
I look for certain features and strengths.
Run back a few generations and see what the relatives have done.

At my age now, I don't expect to be doing hybridizing for that many years,
so will rely on a friend's philosophy of "If you have luck, mush will do for brains."

Been a few years since I ordered daylily plants, but I just picked up a couple myself. Snow Crystal is the new bonus. Not an expensive bonus, but one Ill take ! Im actually kinda jazzed.

Gerry, When you say pot them up and bring them inside, what do you mean? Do you keep them under lights, put them in a south facing window, or just put them in a garage that stays just above freezing? I would really like to place an order, Snow Crystals would be a great bonus, but I want to make sure I have the means to keep them healthy over the winter.

Gale, a sunny window is sufficient. Last winter I had daylilies blooming in my living room and there are pictures on ATP. Also I wrote an article for daylily week this last spring. I 'll locate it for you.

Wow...great article. Altho I dont grow daylilies in my living room, I do bring pots of daylilies inside when they start to bloom and I just enjoy the heck out of them. I also keep blooming pots by the front door. It just ashamed to not enjoy a bloom that took a year an only last a day. I also pick and bring most of my blooms in almost every day.

Got our order from Bill Maryott today. Too many to list but we received 2 huge white boxes which also included the ones our local daylily club purchased from him for our members' reward program. At our September meeting members will be able to redeem points they have earned throughout the year for free daylilies. Maryott Daylilies has had some awesome deals for individuals and clubs, not to mention all the specials and bonus plants that Bill sends.

I am expecting a large order next week and I will continue to buy until Bill announces his last special gift.

Napa Valley Merlot is the present special gift and I already ordered.
