Every little bit of rain becomes a blessing when you've been in drought a while. My plants don't do as well when all they get is water from the hose....and I should limit THAT even more than I do. And I'm regretting some of the plants I have put in in the past. Hard-core xeriscape stuff does better!

Somehow most of the rain just misses me. I have several trees that will need to be cut down for sure.
Very little rain here for a long time. May just start over in the fall and next spring.

I am enjoying the new ATP.

Hey David.....good to see ya here! We've lost a few trees on our place this year....As we drive along in our area....one can easily spot the brown trees along the way....and the frequency seems to be increasing.....not too surprisingly!

We've had flyers put on our doors from the MUD concerning the drought. They have asked residents to conserve water, of course. The bottom of the flyer, though, is about clearing your yard of any brush or overhanging limbs that could catch fire. We have a small greenbelt behind us and that Devil's Ivy is covering the trees. I worry that it is so dry back there, a fire could ladder the ivy and jump to our trees.

Fires have been unfortunately common here in North Central Texas, it is hard to think what that would be like coming toward your home. It breaks my heart to think about that nightmare.

It has already happened in Austin. A homeless man started a cooking fire in the woods, then left it to go buy beer. Eleven homes were totally destroyed, another 40 were damaged. A friend who lives there said the police knocked on the door and told them to get out, and they only had time to get the baby and the car keys.

Their house was okay, but her husband refused to leave and stayed behind to try to protect their house. The wind caused the fire to jump across the street, set the neighbors' grass on fire and burn right to the foundation. Because her husband and another neighbor stayed behind, they were able to save the house across the street.

Setting new records here. Glad I have a well and installed a sprinkleer system. Lots of my plants are dying anyway. Least I know what to and not to plant next year.

Our cows are grazing the last hay field as of today. They are clueless, of course, that they will be sold soon because we will have nothing left to feed them. I'm not wishing a bad hurricane on anyone, but we need a nice tropical storm to blow in around Corpus Christi and bring us a week of soaking rain. Soon, please. Whistling

I hope you get the rain soon Pat, so sad to have to sell you animals because there is no food for them.
On a happier note, the Two Leaf Senna you gave me survived the transplant and is doing well.
Thank you very much.

Ted- I'm daily thankful for our well!! Like you, we're losing stuff anyway.

Pat- we sold off our beef herd last fall, and are down to only our Jersey bull and cow (who is due to calf in a couple of weeks). They are barely scraping by out there. I was just telling my SIL yesterday that we need a big tropical depression to hit real soon. Not just hit, but swirl over the whole state for a week or so!

We got rain for the sixth day in a row, most days were light but not today. I almost didn't make it to work. Access road flooded and several cars stranded.

We got very light rain for an hour of so this morning. I kept watching the weather radar. The colorful stuff was moving in from the east and splitting and running north and south of us.
