Today: It's going to be 105 in Austin. Half my brugmansias have spider mites. A raccoon took a swim in my pond. The squirrel took the hummingbird feeder down. I haven't even checked out front to see what the armadillo did last night. Hope it's going to rain on someone's garden today!

No, the chaos would have occurred anyway! I'm just venting about it. The good news is it's only going to be 104 today, not 105 as earlier predicted.
Porkopal, you need some more badges under your name! Look at a post above for directions to the badges. At least you need a TX one!

I did add the farm badge. I live in Texas and never intend to move, but somehow I don't fully consider myself a "Texan"...

It's raining in Jacksonville right now. It started as a very slow drizzle about an hour ago. We aren't getting anything measurable but it's better than hot dry sun.

I figured somethin' out that I need to share! In order to receive rain...........you must disable your ability to maintain your lawn/pasture....or pick weeds,....get the picture? I put my tractor/mower in the shop for some repairs.......worked for me!! Hurray!

Unfortunately,.....a part that wasn't in stock.....was required to repair..........been over a week,....during which.....it has rained at some point ,.....5 out of tjhe past 8 days......mostly small periods of light showers (some 5 acre showers).....but one day we had 1 1/2 to 2" in a heavy downpour.

Consequently.........elephants have moved into the jungle we have around us
How about our baby 3 legged frog?

That's funny! I'll go right out and hide the lawnmower around the back of the storage shed! Will it work if I wash my car? I've been hitting it with the hose, but not a proper washing. I'll try that.
Lee, I think you may have missed a badge!

I sprayed the fence lines for weeds this morning, that usually causes an immediate rainstorm. So far no results but the weather radar shows rain to the east so I'm still hopeful.

I had to Google Richmond, TX to see where the rain would be. Looks like you're near Rosenberg, where one of my favorite nurseries is located! Sure hope you get some rain. This drought is disappointing to a yard gardener. I can't imagine how stressful it is to a farmer.

Ted, good for you, some much needed rain and you have badges, lots of badges!

Sandi - Were you thinkin' of a "Fertilizer Specialist" badge?

Ted - You've GOT to have a dust mask....when it's 104..........(I'll try that on the DW)

Been lookin' at 100 this afternoon Sticking tongue out

Took me a while, but I figured it out! Yes, you really do need a fertilizer badge for all those stories you tell!

What we got didn't even measure in the rain gauge...BUT, instead of 105 that was predicted today, we were out working at 11, and it was still maybe 85. It stayed coolish and overcast until 3:30 or so. Just that little break in the heat and punishing sun was nice.
