Arlyn. Baby Snowflake is a yellow-green on the reverse of the falls when in bud. One is open & the green is just on the mid stem now. It has a white flower with yellow beards. I am sorry for no photo but I am having trouble learning how to use my camera & I have to check on the battery of my old Pentax. Little Hiawatha looks like it should so I think it threw a seedling. I will wrap the clump for ID when it cools down tomorrow. 89° to day & not going outside again.

Thanks Lori, no biggie, I really don't care much for it anyway. In years past it looked more like your photo, so I thought it was just the heat this year. I was planning on tossing them anyway, poor little thing just isn't gaudy enough for me, LOL.

Neal, there will be NO TOSSING of the NOIDs!! I will trade you something a little more to your liking for anything you are going to get rid of. Just let me know.
I am not sure how you define "guady"

I think you need to start a gaudy thread, Lori...

And thanks for the feedback on Alta California.. I kind of suspected that there was some variation in color based on climate etc.

Considering the winter some of you had, I'm glad to see everyone's blooms already..

LOL, Lori, you're even worse than I am! Usually getting tossed just means going to a fence row to fend for itself. But happy to send you some of these if you'd like. Gorgeous group of photos!

I like rich, saturated colors best, the brighter the better! Poor little not Gypsy Queen just always looked so plain and homely to me.

I made a mistake Arlyn. Some of the labels have been moved around that is not the only plant. I looked up Baby Snowflake in he median iris check list & it is describe as white with white beards & a hint of green at the hafts. So maybe you have the right plant afterall.

Father Rigney is gorgeous, and one I never tire of seeing in photos! I don't know what it is about some brown/bronze with rich purple that makes it so beautiful to me.

I've been confusing these, but have determined this one is Indian Chief:

This one, however, has me stumped:

The colors are quite accurate in the photos

Thanks, Lucy ! Yes, I'm thinking that what I grow ,is, in fact the 'real" baby Snowflake....I e-mailed the pics to someone who grows it, and that "confirmed' that the "white' of Baby Snowfkake, isn't "nearly' as white as , say, Snow Maiden, the buds show a "cream yellow color before opening," and there are" 'yellow -green influences'in the haft area, as well as on the reverse of the falls ". So , I guess until somebody shows me different Shrug! , I'm calling mine "correct' !
As to the little yellow 'seedling", from Little Hiawatha.....it's REALLY a sweet little iris ! Do you want some of it returned to you ? Either you, John, (or your local bees) should get some credit for it !

Neal,
Check out Jacquesiana, 1840, Beowulf, 1936, Christabel, 1934 and maybe find it, or eliminate some contenders.

Beowulf would be a good call, it looks 30's-40's, and it looks "Schreiners" to me , as well. I had also thought of some of Laphams....but , something is telling me ,"No" !

Romance looks very nice , Dave !
