Thanks, Carol. Will this produce pineapple guava fruits? How long to wait? (already imagining how delicious they are! maybe not even tasty?)

I don't know about your area, but yes, they produce and yes, they are tasty. I have one here also, waiting to find a home in the ground...love the scent of them also.

I would think so, but I really know nothing about their culture. It's been 50 years since I ate one, but I think it was tasty.

Thanks, Sherry. The "scent"? from flower or fruit?

I've heard that the flower petals are edible, too.

Many thanks, Sherry. Here's brief summary (from the wiki doc) about this surprising (to me) plant: Acca sellowiana (Feijoa, Pineapple Guava) -- The crisp, spicy-sweet tasting petals of its flowers are edible; its fruits mature in autumn and fall to ground when ripe; its fruits smell like potent fine perfume aroma; its fruits are with sweet aromatic flavor and taste like pineapple, apple, and mint; pulp in fruit can be used in natural cosmetic products as of exfoliant. -- these are the info I like to know and hope to experience (test) on.

I thought Wiki did a pretty good job of describing it. I grew this in SoCal and was surprised that it would grow here...also surprised that my friend had a nice 15 gal size for me...woohoo!

I have the robins enjoying the blooms on my pineapple guava every day! I nibble on a few every time I walk by it. Mine, that came with the garden, it about 8-9 foot tall now and I am slowing trimming it to keep it from encroaching on the pathway and other bed.

Hi, Sue. Your garden and blooms are marvelous. Just wondering if spiders and their webs could hurt a plant in a harm way? I have such a succulent aloe that some spiders seem live in it and spread lot very thin webs around plants leaves. Every morning I wipe out those white silky webs and next day they always come back more and denser!!! How do I get rid of it? Thanks for help.
