I bought some Caladium bulbs and the pkg said full sun! They're pretty much shaded by the elephant ears, but are smaller than I thought they would be. Should they be more shade than sun?

There are small leafed Caladiums (straps) and large leafed caladiums. Go o website Caladiums4less and check them out.
I want to add my shade area with straps "Miss Muffet" and FancyLeafs GreyGhost both are sun tolerant but the area is part shade.

That looks really nice.I put Caladiums in both sun and full shade areas and they do well in both, just need to water the sun ones every day. Very nice Heuchera is it a Pistache or Citronelle?

Not either of those. I had Tira Misu and Gingerale but one died. My latest notes say Tiera Misu.
It really holds up well and leaves stay good until July really hot and humid weather makes them brown spot.

It's definitely not Ginger Ale and the leaves look kind of large for Tiramisu, Does it get red veining in the spring and fall? For the brown spot fungus try spraying with some neem oil.

Tiramisu should get at least some red veining , based on leaf size and color I'd say it's a Pistache mismarked. They both originate from the same breeder so it's possible'

I bought 4 different packages of caladiums, and after planting them, they all came up the same! Next year I think I'm buying potted ones. That way I'll know what I'm getting. Yours are very pretty, GE.

Dnut, Onewish is absolutely right - the coleus are *very* easy. You can even keep them in water all winter, although that makes the transition to soil a little tougher.

NJBob ! I have looked at the plant in my files that go back. I dont have a good picture of it. I am convinced its Not tieramisu,I looked TM up on Bluestone where I boulgt the plants.
It must be Citronelle. I also had Gingerale but the heuchs I had in the Woodpile all died but 1.
I am positive I didnt buy Lime Rickey so it must be Cit.I just done remember ordering it.
Thats the way things are here. Thanks .

Lovely area GE.......you definitely have green hands! Ya'll taught me something new, I never knew Cladiums came in different sizes. I bought some from Wally world, they took forever to come up and though they are growing, they are shorter and smaller leaved then what I seen for sale in pots. Do you have to dig yours up in the fall, GE? or do you just buy new next year?
Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

Tropical bulbs are an indulgance of mine.I have never kept a bulb over winter with any success.
I Buy thru a co-op and get them at reasonable prices.
Caladiums4Less has a sale on caladiums it's not a co-op perse just watch for his classifieds. I buy by the bag,as I believe you have to.
I tried wintering over the first year I bought bulbs from Bill.By the time they failed to sprout (in june) it was too late to order from him.

Cheap bulbs from Wallyworld,Home Depot,Lowes ets are just that, cheap.
Its the old addage"you get whet you pay for"
All gardeners learn this the hard way.I am first on the list.

Jo Ann, It's definitely not Lime Ricky which has ruffled leaves. Do you have Miracle? Both Tiramisu and Miracle are green in summer, at least here. Miracle is just starting to show a bit of red.

I mean taking the bulbs out of the pots or ground and storeing them in bags of whatever. Its either too dry or too humid. They just never bloom again.

I didnt keep records of the heuchs. I know I had gingerale ,tiera misu and some other light colored ones in that spot.
I am certain Gingerale didnt make it.I tossed it last springIt never looked right.
I'm going back to Bluestone and resurect my history to see if they have the order.

I'd be happy to send you some Calla tubers, Z.albomaculata. They're very easy to overwinter. I just toss them in a bag or box with some perlite and put in the basement, dark and dry. They're prolific too.

I LUV my callas and overwinter them every year in their containers in my cold room. Found another pic of a geranium. 'Black Beauty' This one needs a few hours of sun.
