So glad to see the possibility for a epie forum. I sure miss the one we had on Dave's but know that we can re create it here.

Microb: I had a great summer of new growth after my disastrous winter last year. As I completed my late fall inventory, I had just shy of 400 different epie hybrid plants. Of these, approx. 40 have bloomed in the past. Most are 1-3 years old with a few that are 6 years old. Many are blooming size now so I am hoping for a mild winter and great spring! bob

HI Bob,

Good to see you here. Glad you had a good year. Your blooms are amazing. I had a good blooming season and recorded 1000 blooms. Lots of good growth on the Spring 2014 cuttings. They should bloom next year. Also having a lot of success with hanging pots. The water reservoir in the bottom stops them drying out and I think they have better airflow up higher. This past few months I have had a problem with bacteria rotting the branches. I'm cutting out a lot of dead and dying growth to control the spread, also spraying heavily where necessary. Still have about 700 pots (400 hanging) but only about 60-70 varieties. Added on new greenhouse and have about as much as I can handle.

As you can see from this thread there is some resistance to starting a dedicated Epiphyllums Forum. One fear is that there will be little or no activity during the winter months. The attraction is definitely the blooms but a lot goes on in the non blooming season that we could report on.

We need to keep getting the message out and have as much interaction as we can. There is some activity over on the Cacti and Succulents Forum, its just not all in one place.

Mike

I'd like to see a specific forum for Epiphyllum so as not to have to go searching on the Tropicals, Cactus & Succulent or Houseplant Forums to try to find past posts.

@Dave - we are getting more Epi growers coming over from Daves Garden and we had a very active Epi Forum there so hopefully it can still be considered.
