I need to top off some of my Hoya's.What kind of soil should i use? They are all AE plants and most people who have bought them know they use a moisture retaining soil. You have to really be careful in the winter watering any EA plants. So should i use a fast draining so i don't end up with rot.The only EA plant i have topped off before is my prayer plant & they need such a moisture retaining soil i use African Violet soil in it,but it looks to be planted in peat moss & it breaks down very fast.My Hoya's need to be potted up because of birds trying to make a nest in them & now pulling roots to make nest.
H. 'Chelsea' ,i have some worse than this one & this one is worse now.I have managed to stop them from trying to make nest in the plants,i'm hoping covering the roots with soil will stop them from pulling on roots to get them out, they leave a mess, before they kill a plant.I have provided a place for them or 2 of them to nest on my back porch. That's where they so badly want to nest.
