I've done quite a few roses this way, cuttings in a big freezer bag, and never had any fungus problems. I do not take them out and wash them off. They remain in the bag until they root. The advantage to this is seeing the roots of the rose come through, at the bottom of the bag. That is when you know the rose is truly rooted, and you do not have to wonder.

I have 4 Hoyas and hope to find more next Spring. I had a hard to finding them!

I have two NOIDS. One I think is a carnosa from HD and the other was given in a trade but I can't remember what she said it was. It has leaves similar to nummularioides.
I have a 'Rope' by Exotic Angel and a lacunosa 'Royal Flush'. My 'Royal Flush' isn't doing good at all. I have no idea what I've done wrong with it.

I noticed my lacunosa has a hard time with moving from it's perch outside back to a household environment... maybe they just resist change, like the rest of us??? Whistling

H. lacunosa's are always trouble IMHO. They either love us or hate us and there's not much we can do to change their minds.
Mine was super happy outside all summer, blooming away, now that it's back inside it's sulking again.

I have mixed feelings about H. lacunosa too. A few years ago I had six or seven and I'm currently down to two. They are both doing well and one has a couple of blooms. I just moved and I hope they like their new surroundings and don't stress out too much and die. They seem to prefer more moisture than my other hoyas.

I think mine hates me. I seem to be doing ok with the other hoyas but this one looks pathetic.

Here are mine:
1. H. lacunosa cv. Royal Flush
2. H. carnosa (I believe.)
3. NOID - I think H. nummularioides
4. H. carnosa compacta (Exotic Angel's 'Rope')

I have hoya carnosa from a friend. He brought over some cuttings. they seem to be slow growing. Is it just me, or how long does it take to have another leaf?

i got these cuttings in October, and its december now. they are alive, looking great, but did not see any additional leaf. Am I impatient?

Angelina: Sometimes I find Hoya carnosa cuttings are really slow before they take off. How many nodes were on the stem cuttings when you received them? Once I planted a single leaf that rooted but never really multiplied or grew into a vine so I learned to take stem cuttings with at least three nodes (the little nubs where leaves were previously growing) and I lay the stem longways on top of the soil, bury the nodes just beneath the soil and place a rock on top to hold them down. Roots seem to form quickly and growth is fast during the warm months here. Where do you live? Depending on where you live, you will probably see a spurt of growth on your cuttings next spring and summer when the weather warms up.

Hello all,
I am a new newbie with my collection of hoya's.I have a H. carnosa 'Rubra' Krimson princess.I bought one labeled H. linearis an EA plant that turned out to be a Rhipsalis 'sulcata'.Not a good day!!!

I had to have surgery and the hubby got me a Hoya from lowe's.It's an EA plant, labeled H.Bilobata and under that it had Hoya 'tsungii'.It's different than my carnosa, the leaves are thin and velvet feeling. The leaves almost feel brittle.I know there are a lot of different Hoya's,even succulent ones. The care varies from plan to plant.I can't find much about this one besides the fact that someone made a mistake naming it or something & you can find it under 3 names that I've found.I also found it being called DS-70.

All I need is care instructions, potting information, likes & dislikes, water, humidity needs ,light requirements etc...
If anyone will help me with this I will appreciate it greatly!!!! Have a lovely day.

here's a close up

here another pic of the same plant
Merry christmas JO

Great tips on cuttings! I also appreciate knowing H. lacunosa may need more moisture than I've been giving it.. I'll move it lower to where I'll notice when the soil is dry. My little one is surviving but growing slooooowly and hasn't bloomed yet.

Lin, we sure do need to catch up -- I just read on another thread that you moved a couple weeks ago! HUGS

I saw a beautiful HOYA 'LACUNOSA online called snowcap. Had some wonderful two tone colors. I'm not sure I would call it variegation. It was being shipped from Thailand though, so shipping was way more than I wanted to pay. Will have to keep an eye out for it here.

Oh boy, that's really cool. Grant gave me the variegated bug a while ago, I remain helpless in its grasp... wonder if it blooms as easily as the typical lacunosa?

Thanks Jill ... yes, I moved last month and I'm still trying to get settled but things are going along smoothly and I'm looking forward to the new year!

Alan: Thanks for the link to the Exotic Angel website, I haven't visited their site in awhile and it looks like they've done some major changes and upgrades, it's much nicer than it used to be. The Exotic Angel plants are from Hermann Engelmann greenhouses here in Central Florida. In the spring, watch your local Home Depot and Lowes ... they carry the Exotic Angel plants and sometimes their Hoyas are plentiful at Home Depot and Lowes in areas other than Florida. About four or five years ago I was seeing a lot of their Hoyas locally but not so much anymore. I did purchase a nice Hoya australis subsp. tenuipes from their website in 2009 and it's grown like gangbusters and is a regular fall/winter bloomer for me. I've got two of the EA Hoya lacunosa's ... one with the solid green leaf and another with the variegated leaf. The solid green one is in bloom now and it smells so fantastic.

That's so nice, Lin - is the australis scented?

I just discovered mealies on my Hindu rope. I'm so bummed.

Sheryl: Yes, Hoya australis has an amazing fragrance!

Sad Sorry about your Hoya compacta ... that particular Hoya sure seems to be a mealy magnet with so many little nooks and crannies for them to hide! I had a very large Hindu Rope Hoya but lost it to last winter's freezes. I used to keep q-tips and rubbing alcohol on hand just for that plant! This is what it looked like summer of 2010:
