Not sure if ornamental kale is considered perennial. Have shared these photos in the Pacific Coast Gardening forum as well.

Not my plants, this is a common area in the front of our subdivision:
Last 05 Feb 2016, they look like this:

Yesterday 02Mar2016, I walked by this area, ornamental kale is in full bloom, did not realize they can bloom! Quite lovely and colorful!

My Brunnera macrophylla has survived my repot in late Fall 2015, and is now starting to make its tiny blue flowers. Hurray! This corner of my patio has been my frustration for awhile, Have tried some succulents and croton before. It is okay for awhile during the warm months. I hate it when winter arrives before and no plant is happy there. That's why I opted to repot my Brunnera macrophylla in that containe, it has been happy to be kept in shade all year round. Now it is no longer a dull winter corner! Just have to step up watering a bit when our thermal heat returns later.

Jan 4, 2016 - took this photo as I returned after being away for about a month, poor plant, I thought it is about to die: But I still see green, so left it alone, thankfully temps are cool and no hard freeze and we got some on and off rains then.

February has been relatively dry, but temps are cool to comfy warm. Just giving the plant some occasional watering as needed.

About to get some good rain this coming weekend in March, good timing, it has been so dry lately, and plant has good leaves, so it really can enjoy the rain when it comes. Took a photo of the blooms, just in case the rain does come down hard, and it becomes too much for the tiny blooms:

Hurray! Glad it turned around for you! Brunnera macrophylla is on my list to order this spring. I love the forget me not like blooms. There are lots with beautiful silvery or veined foliage, but I'm leaning on the plain green leaved form like yours because I really want those sprays of blue flowers to be the focus rather than leaves. I mean in the area I have planned for them, but I would probably enjoy silver leaved varieties in another part of the garden.

Arturo, The aging leaves, afterbloom growth , are long and threadlike. I let them just do whatever they will.It adds a different element to the composition.
I have not had luck with the light colors.Best colors here are the Pixie's and George.
