Thanks so much Jo Anne, I'm assuming that they tend to slowly dry down after blooming sometime by your mid May? You simply let them stay in ground and eventually have a small clump, out of cloning baby bulbs.? These spring herald gardening is a special focus for us gardeners in temperate regions that need the boost of very early color, before the full spring arrives. Some will gointo my woodland garden, others in my cottage garden and still others in the rock garden. Your post has helped me in my planning as I step into our fall. Thank You! Thank You!

Arturo, yes they do form clumps.I also put three bulbs in a hole.
I couldn't exactly say the old growth dies off. Mine remained all season and don't die until winter. I leave them as spikes just because I believe the afterlife of the spikes feeds the bulb for the next season

Thanks Neal! We are having an extended cool down, but sunny so the flowering plants are happier! So in love with the Sarracenias, such toughies, just have to make sure they are kept with wet feet always.

I love these Anemone Blanda. They havn't multiplied as much as I would have hoped in 8 years. Squirrels are the problem.

How odd. Our deer have never touched the daphne. It's tough to advise anyone on "deer-proof" plants because their taste varies so much.

Yes, this is an amazing time here. The rhododendrons are blooming, the trees and everything is popping out of the ground. We also just had a few days of sun. Today back to the rain.

Well, one thing that WON'T be blooming is my Wisteria Sinensis. Grumbling

It was covered with flower buds. The best in years. And then we got not one, not two, but THREE sub-freezing nights. The bud clusters are all hanging like dead fish. Crying It wouldn't be quite so bad, except that it only started blooming a few years ago. On the bright side, next year should be a real stunner. I hope Crossing Fingers!

Julia,

Love the gold bleeding heart! Mine is up but not blooming yet. What is the chartreuse plant in the third photo? It looks like a fern?
