I did not order anything this year figuring I could get them local. Will have to check some further away to see if they are any good. I know of a couple but prices are way out of control.
I only have one nursery close by that sale them and none of them are under 18. But they are huge. I still will not buy them big or small for that price. They are to iffy for me.
Those are wonderful. We have a couple of private garden centers here who seem to be holding their own.
I still order perennials online. I buy annuals localy and go to my sisters 100 miles from here.Celebrate her birthday mid May and buy plants at a large green house ( EarlyBird ) there.
JoAnn that is a good time to get your plants in May. My daughter gives me a gift certificate to the local nursery for Mother's day every year. I love my local nursery. I do not buy many plants online anymore.
I usually only buy tropical plants online because I cannot find them local. You know how I love the tropical island look for my patio and I cannot buy those local. I hit Santa Rosa when they have a big sale for Hellebores and the Coral Bells.
Cinta, I buy perennials online, more unusual choices. Annuals are a local purchase. If I could manage the Farmers Market Flower days I would do that. My daughter comes home with great stuff and priced well.
I forgot about the farmer's market. I have to try to remember this year. One year I purchased a lot of coral bells at a market. They all became deer food before I found out that they were not deer resistant as the books say.
It was the first year I was in this house and I was planting like a mad woman. I was so heart broken the first year. I finally had my acres of land and I have to fight to have gardens every day.

I bought a very large Purple Petticoats coral bells yesterday at Costco for about 10 bucks. Was very pleased. Will probably buy some other smaller ones at some local nurseries or greenhouses. I've never ordered one. I don't have much luck with ordering plants. About 50/50 survival rate. Much better to buy a well established plant that I can see is doing well.
@Springcolor, Thank you! Love the veining on it! Found it for $7 locally and they had many more I wanted to leave with! lol. I have a couple places around me that carry the "harder to find" cultivars if anyone is wanting anything.
