Bob, bright shade is the secret here for citronelle.
Mine became too shaded near the JM so I moved it. Doing pretty good in recovery.

citronelle has been the best one I own. It is never small all summer and winter it only loses a couple of leaves so it comes back a large plant in the Spring.
It has been in this pot for 3 yrs this is yr 4.

I plant all my plants in pots which has given me success the last two years. They were always dead or so small after winter and slowly would die through the summer.

I use coir pots which give them perfect drainage I line them with oak leaves and fill with my homemade compost soil

Once I place them in the garden you cannot see they are in pots. When winter comes I remove them and place them in a corner on the patio and cover with leaves.

Here are some lined up ready to be placed in the hosta garden.

That is great Bob it pays to shop around. I have not seen very many sales yet. I see Santa Rosa has a lot more than they have ever sold.

I am going to order a lot this Fall when they do their end of season sale.

Delta Dawn has done very well for me, but Solar Eclipse never turned dark in the middle like the pictures.

I wonder if Solar Eclipse needs more sun. Mine gets morning sun and a little afternoon sun but not much. The color is amazing here.

I put together a order from Santa Rosa for the 2.99 Heucheras. Now that I have figured how to keep them alive I am excited. I ordered Kasandra last year and it is a pretty plant. They also have some nice Heucherellas Sweet Tea is doing really good and it is very pretty.

I ordered another Delta Dawn, Solar Eclipse, Forever Purple, and Gunsmoke. Forever Purple is probably the prettiest color. It likes less sun than the others though. I killed one last year with too much sun. I have one in mostly shade now, and it's happy.

Delta Dawn is just a complete winner here. It's in its 3rd year. It's the best one I've ever grown with the vein coloration. The others always lost the veins in the summer.

I am afraid to order such small plants this time of year. We are in triple digit temps and it will be hot and dry all summer into fall. I don't dare plant them into the ground and keeping them moist in a pot is almost impossible. I don't have enough shade.

I'd love to order a few at that price.

Any suggestions on how to get them through this kind of summer heat ?
I'd rather weed than dust ... the weeds stay gone longer.

I tried to order the Solar Eclipse but I guess it sold out, you are really going to like Gunsmoke great plant.

I also received an order from Ilovehosta.net
Carnival Candy Apple is one of the nicest reds I have seen.
Carnival Peach Parfait I think a very nice color.
Blushing Dawn if the leaves turn a yellowish color like shown I think it will be a nice one.
Heucherella Twilight looks to be a darker version of Cracked ice.
and they sent a free Midnight Blush nothing special now , will have to wait and see.

Hi Lyn, hope you have been well.
Not really sure how to do it because even here when it gets real hot a lot of them have a hard time.

You could grow them in containers until fall. I keep some on my patio. It's covered. I can move them to get more or less light.

I've noticed that these smaller plants grow just as good as larger ones. You can't beat that price. People spend more than that on annuals.

I agree Plant size with these guys really does not to seem to matter, and the ones I received so far have been a nice size.
