I would like to do something a little different too so looking forward to your painting, Lynn. I just have to find some of those Omaha Steak boxes, or drug boxes.

Glad I didn't start on my other container as I need inspiration too. Would love to have it look like stone. I keep looking for more boxes even though DH thinks I have enough. You just can't have enough of a good thing!!

I am hoping to find lots of ideas and inspiration on this thread before I start painting, because I really don't have a "crafty" gene whatsoever!!!! I am inspired, though, by reading through all of the ideas here--thanks everyone!

I grow lots of herbs and flowers in containers. I'd love to use one of my smaller troughs for a fairy garden, and a larger one for some special flowers that need a container of their own, such as lisianthus.

Great ideas Linda. They can definitely be used for more than hardy succulents and alpine plants. Lisianthus would be beautiful in a trough.

BlueFox, Tabby and Gordon have done some really nice ones painted to look like stone. Then there is the really pretty green one Pegi did.

*Blush* Going to have to stencil those leaves, they are coming off very slowly. Now if the weather would cool down so I can get out there to work. Found some cute marine stencils at the thrift store, turtles, etc. Going to see what I can create.

Wow Gordon. Was that in your home? How long did it take you to build it? Did it actually hold water and not come apart? So many questions.
And yes, we were all 23 about the day before yesterday. Rolling on the floor laughing

HA Ha HA se t before it ws totally done.. I' d bathe in 1/2 a double sized oak barrel they would import anchovies in ..and they would put out lots of them on the street.. every day.. I used them for everything..had a mango growing in one [tree today the dam squirrels dug up my newly emerging mango tree today.. boy are they on the endangered list ] one had water liles and gold fish.. one was on the roof bac then in that place.. for city viewing and bathing together.. but I made due tll it was sone// I had a helper sanding... coatng it with fiberglass cloth and resin.. then covered n silicone rubber.. I used to get in gallons... an d that was the color of it.. soft so you could rub aganst it.... rember the clapper.. clap on.... clap off..
well the shower wa attached to one on an electrical valve.. clap.. and the shower water would turn on.. and clap off... the only drawback to it was .. sometimes f it was lightning.. you could get a double clap of thunder that would activate it.. but you'd get the clap of thunder.. then it would start raning inside.. you see the double kitchen sink.. and the thick butcher block... with the knives on the wall with magnets inbeded in the plaster.. on the far side the bathroom sink was also carved.. and the mirror imbeded in the foam... this is about foam right ... I'd carved a toilet from the foam... but there's alot of fluid dynamics at work there.. and I got impatient in designing the rght one... so I ended up imbeding a toilet.. amercan standard.. in the foam.. my painting behind me there... it was a time of rampant art...some recognition and enough money to have me totally starve.. any more and I'm sure we'll be OT...

Oooh, what suburb? Maybe she's near and we can trade? I'm out west and north near Rocky Flats.

I've seen the rabbits eat them as well as seen all the little rabbit raisins on my semps.

I'm in Greenwood Village just off I 25 & Orchard in a town house.

I have a tiny front area and the rabbits enjoy whatever I put out there.

I want to try the styrofoam troughs as I am having trouble picking up rocks. I bought some Lava Rock with pockets, Hope I can get something to grow in
it .. Not big but broke my back OHHHHHHHH

I have crossed over to Arvada several times lately, perhaps we can plan to meet at Timberline again.

I see the Korean market isn't putting out those styrofoam containers any more, maybe they didn't like me taking some. Well, that's less for the trashman to take!. I have enough to work with if I get busy.

I got a little lazy this year, so only have a few tomato plants and a couple squah. My styrofoam container has geranimums in it and they are doing well. I was hoping to get a couple more containers going, but that was put on hold for a little while. I have some plumeria plants and I do see a couple have an inflo on them so I'll get flowers later on. Don't know what colors yet. The plumeria cuttings I got from a gal not too far from us are doing well too. Getting a little too hot for me to stay out in back very long.
