Ah yes, LPP sure has been on the list for a while, I shy away from hostas that are not slug resistant or at least better than average substance. I think I might do better with the slugs this year, I am putting down pine needles because they cannot slide across them, the slime thing doesn't work. I wonder if LPP has to be divided often to keep it from reverting to green. Blinking

Susan,

If you're looking for big, Clifford's Forest Fire or Garden Party are two that I have that are beautiful all season. And, yes War Paint is very pretty for about 2 - 3 weeks and then just plain green. I just got Lakeside Paisley Print and Rare Breed last year, so I don't know much about them. Another pretty one is Darwin's Standard. Nothing seems to munch on any of these, and Darwin's Standard gets a lot of sun here.

I had a nursery tell me that slugs don't like pine needles, but the snails don't seem to mind them! I don't have a lot, but enough to make me mad Grumbling At least they're easier to squash than slugs.

Oh dear, I hope you can get your snails under control. I have Clifford's Forest Fire on my list, near the top Green Grin! I just bought Lakeside Cranberry Relish and can't wait for that one to get big. Also there is another hosta called 'War Party' and it is said to hold color well. I will check on Darwin's Standard sounds like a winner. Most of my hostas are slug resistant but if I do get one thats not I can just put it into a pot. Garden Party is pest resistant?

I have War Party and it is a nice one, but not really colorful. Blue-green I think. No margins or variegation... Garden Party seems to be pest resistant for me. The biggest problem with it is that I planted it under a pine that drips sap on it and then it looks pretty bad! It is one of the first ones to come up in the spring.

Cliffords Forest Fire may be available on the coop from Walters. Not too sure what's going on with that coop...

I have Revolution and it does well for me in my garden. Seems to be pest resistant with it's thick leaves. The only photo I have of it was taken in 2009.

WOW!!! Drooling Drooling Drooling

Thanks for the tip Rose! that is really beautiful, I kinda went back and forth about buying one, mainly because all the pics I see are different. Confused I was also ready to buy a Cliffords Forest Fire but when I read the reviews, some say it looks too much like Liberty and some say it looks too much like Sage and I have several of those so don't want something that looks like them. I really like my 'Clifford's Forest Fire'. Sagae is still smallish, and Liberty hasn't been really impressive where I have it planted. It's on my list to move this spring, though! I would love for it to look like some of the pics that I've seen. It is a beauty!

Rose, didn't you say that you had' Forest Fire', do you have a picture? You said it does really good right? Do you think it looks like Liberty or Sagae?

Nice hostas springcolor, yeah too bad about War Paint, but at least it is beautiful part of the time. I really like the Gaurdian Angle, very unusual. I just put in an mail order with Naylor Creek. I am afraid I have never had the pleasure of seeing them at a flower show. Sad

Thanks
I talked with him (Naylor Creek) at the flower show and wanted to come visit his place but he said no, just mail order. Darn! I'm going to make a point in going to Far Reaches Nursery when they have open days. They only have a few open days. They are a nice company as well. I bought a plant from Far reaches that died all I had to do is E-mail and he brought it to another plant sale I was going to, for replacement.

Yes, a great company and some interesting plants. They went all mail order this year so was not at the NW Flower Show. Very sad, they left a big dent in the retail part of the show. He will be at some Plant Sales later this year.
