Love the bright colors, Linda. When I see these it reminds me of a Mexican restaurant in Puerta Varta that did something similar.

WOW Gordon, is that for real? I wonder what that is growing all over that building, it is beautifull! This is also where some naysayer will come in and tell us how that beautiful growing thing will ultimately kill that several hundred year old building... (several hundred year old building!).

yes.. it looks too dreamy to be real... I just don't know...
I'm all in favor of the technique.. and the look... .. a little water won't hurt the house.. and the root invasion on the small flowering plants shouldn't be too great.. Let then keep the flowes off their house... and just enjoy them if others are willing to do the work on theirs

Reminds me of Granny Laurie's Rose that is growing up the side of my house and onto my roof. I failed to prune it last year and it stayed green all winter, now it's covered in buds and everybody who drops by stops and stares and says 'That rose is gonna eat your house.'

And I say, 'Let it!'

It came from the mountains and the home of my great grandmother many years ago. I figure it deserves a chance to do whatever it wants to do. Besides, it sure is pretty draped over that back corner of my house. I wrote an article about it last year, it's around here somewhere; fun memories.

I call that kind of thing, including Gordon's photo, 'Nature's Art'. There's just something about letting nature do whatever she wants, ya know?

I'll let the rose grow like that, now that it's there, but as you can see, I have to keep those canes cut back otherwise they grab anything within their reach especially me, as I walk by.

Until last year, I kept it pruned.
It's a great old rose, thanks.
