A couple days ago I saw a very large bee (or some such critter) flying into the daylilies at the back of my property. Sadly I did not have a camera with me at the time. Today, though, I got lucky and was out photographing when what might be the same large insect flew into and crawled around in two of my daylilies. It just occurred to me as I am writing that I should have gotten video, but I got two photos instead. They are below.
The plants in the photos are purported by the vendor from whom I purchased them to be Frans Hals. I have had Frans Hals for a number of years and my plants look exactly like the photo on the AHS database. The new plants, while very similar to Frans Hals, certainly do not look the same. Regardless of what they are, they are blooming at the same time as Frans Hals, which is what I wanted, and I like them.
