Someone on one of the other threads has a scape that was actually forming last year, I think they said? If it is coming straight out of the ground, then that's what it is.
Really like that little one. Good color, nice size and it's cute, too. Smiling Congratulations! Thumbs up

Remember this? I always think of it when I am waiting for blooms!

Edited to say that I can't get the video to embed. Of well. It was the old commercial for Heinz ketchup with the bit from the song "Anticipation". Here is a link:

My only "true" scapes are on Spectral Elegance, but should
not be blooming until June. I have not timed how long a scape grows before it actually
blooms, but the buds are already showing.

Have scapes on Open my Eyes, God Save the Queen, Call me Carla, Crazy Ivan, Walter Kennedy,
Dove in Flight, and Monet's Garden. These are new for me, and have not acclimated as yet.

Rainbow Frost has a scape left over from autumn.

I spotted my first scape on Kokomo Sunset, which was not registered when I bought it last year at a local garden center. It is supposed to be a constant bloomer. From what I read on the net, it is a fast increaser, which means it might be like Stella d' Oro, which blooms from new fans. We will see what happens this summer. I will keep an eye on it. It is now pre-registered by Petit, although it is trade-marked and patented, apparently.

From what I've read Ted Petit has hooked up with Garden Debut and there is a series of these daylilies and they are patented. Here's a link that talks about it

From last I checked, those daylilies that Garden Debut are offering are NOT registered with AHS. I took them up on this. It was not corrected at the time. That really surprised me since Ted is a member of AHS, has written books etc. Garden Debut also bragged that they were daylilies that repeat bloom. And I asked WHERE and had they been tested as repeating in mid US or north. No they hadn't. I asked that it be mentioned in their FB pages on them. They did not. I was again disappointed as their site extends to nurseries around the country.

poplar creek, what is meant by pre registered? It only takes a week or two to get confirmation that they are registered these days with our new registrar. He lets us know immediately if there is a conflict with names. Where are you located please? That will matter for whether the daylily repeats.

Linda, how exciting for you! I remember Black Eye. The x means it was crossed with something. Do you know the other parent? Black Eye is a lavender with a darker eye from Goldner.

I think what he means is that they are registered but the info will not be published on the AHS database until 2013 since they were registered after the deadline to be included in the 2012 publishing.
Here is the ones that Petit has registered and the ones with the tropical names are the Garden Debut ones. http://www.daylilies.org/Dayli... of these have been out since 2010 but are just getting registered. From my understanding, these are supposed to be better LANDSCAPING daylilies.

I am glad to hear that Petit has finally registered the daylilies (after being released with Garden Debut).
Yes, I think that this is his landscape line. Not the fanciest, but supposed to be good garden daylilies.
Now to get them to test and tell how they do every where.
I remember when Apps produced several daylilies for the masses. He admitted that one of the tests for them was that they bloom well in pots! Good for the nursery trade.
I always remind gardeners that those grown in pots are always shorter than they actually appear when seeing them at the nursery. (all plants) The pots make them look taller!

There is a great need for good landscape plants besides poor old Stella, who is about as exciting as seeing another orange marigold! Once you get over the first bloom, the rest are ho-hum!

Rolling my eyes.

I agree

I HAVE SCAPES!!!!!! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Hurray!

Can't tell you what they are, though... they're from the ones I bought at HD/Lowes a couple years ago. Was looking at them on my way to the mailbox, and several of them have scapes. Green Grin!

I chose NOT to check out the rest, because it would involve walking over the rain-wet grass in my bedroom slippers Hilarious!
