Zuzu - Reminds me of Apple Jack...? Or maybe Barn Dance? Lots of his roses all look pretty close.

Barn Dance: http://www.helpmefind.com/rose... and http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...

Barn Dance has petals that are almost recurved, so I don't think that's it, and Apple Jack can't really be called a pink blend. It's pretty much one color.

I sent the first photo to Heirloom. I'll let you know what they say.

I think so too, Porkpal. It's not September Song, but I like it.

All these pictures of everyone's roses and talk of how well they're all doing has me in a complete state of depression.
We just had our annual garden tour this past weekend and I only had TWO roses with blooms on them: Excellenz von Schubert, and Chihuly.
The remaining 39 bloomed wonderfully 3 WEEKS AGO ago :(

This is the first time it's ever happened and thankfully I had common things like foxglove, lobelia, arctotis, snapdragons, etc. blooming...but it just wasn't the "show" it's been in my previous years as a tour host gardener. The only consolation is that everyone else who hosted was in the same boat. ( In the back of my mind, i KNEW i shouldn't have signed up to be on it this year !)

This years weather goes down in infamy as being the MOST bizarre we've ever had...in my lifetime anyway ! I'm not doing this again until Mother Nature gets her act together !

Zu: Glad you mentioned September Song. A friend of mine got it and has the same compalints as you. We were both convinced it was mislabeled, but hers looks just like the photos you posted.

Here is the list of roses I currently grow: http://cubits.org/Suehomegarde...

of those, I have several favorites, chosen for overall health and beauty. A few are too new to really give them a good assessment but I go to lots of nurseries and rose gardens so I see many in different growing conditions:

Aloha aka Aloha Hawaii[/b] (not to be confused with the pink Aloha by Boerner) healthy plant, the most gorgeous blooms, so many different looks for it! Look how much Zuzu and I love taking photos of it! Whistling Rose (Rosa 'Aloha')

Autumn Sunset a wonderful climber, had it in my other garden, had to get another for my new garden! It just started blooming yesterday & I have it paired with a pretty purple clematis, yet to bloom but they will look great together I am sure!
Rose (Rosa 'Autumn Sunset')

Brothers Grimm Fairy Tale one of the healthiest roses I have ever seen, the leaves are super shiny, deep green and deep burgundy, love this plant even when not in bloom, but boy, when it blooms, what a WOW hot color!!
Rose (Rosa 'Gebrueder Grimm')

Cafe Sigh, an understated beauty, the color may not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it!
Floribunda Rose (Rosa 'Cafe')

Cinco de Mayo good looking plant, wonderful distinct color, it's an all around good plant with lots of blooms over a long season

Eureka Love this rose, the full bloom and the wonderful yellow with touches of apricot, it's my favorite yellow.
As you can see, I love photographing it!
Rose (Rosa 'Eureka')

Julia Child I probably have too many yellow roses but this is one of the best yellow ones out there, a great all around plant, lots of blooms and a nice soft fragrance too.

Lady Emma Hamilton This is still a fairly new David Austin rose for me but it's quickly becoming a favorite. The new foliage is a nice bronze, and the blooms are just beautiful!
Rose (Rosa 'Lady Emma Hamilton')

Molineux A beautiful yellow Austin rose, it does shatter quicker than I'd like but I have others for cutting, this is just one good bloomer.

Penelope I fell in love with this one at Zuzu's and added it to my new garden. Healthy, large shrub and masses of blooms, doesn't mind a bit of shade too.
Rose (Rosa 'Penelope')

Sally Holmes Another hybrid musk like Penelope, an all around great plant, large shrub, can be trained as a climber. One of those roses that you can recognize anywhere with it's cute pointed peach buds. One stem is an entire bouquet.
Rose (Rosa 'Sally Holmes')

Westerland Love orange, this one is another large shrub that can be trained as a climber. Another one that I left behind and had to buy again.
Rose (Rosa 'Westerland')

I am sure I will be adding most to my best list by the time all my roses get established. Rolling my eyes.

Sue I love your list and the way that is set up. is that feature just for moderators?
Where can I buy a Cafe? Russet colored roses are a new favorite for me. I have a mini with strong tea coloring, and I can't find the nametag. It is a single, 5 petaled rose, and is planted next to a mini named Iced Tea, but that one is correctly labeled. I bought both from Sequoia when they had their closing sale. Another lost label rose from that sale is blooming a deep purple. It has perfect sweetheart buds. I'm guessing Winsome of that one?
I'll have to work on a best list too. It changes every day, I think.
Cape Diamond stays on the top 5, that's for sure.

That's awesome! I didn't know that we could do things like that... I'm planning on mapping my yards this summer so I have an idea who's where & how they're performing.

Cindi, that list is on my personal Cubits site. I started one on DG as it was easy to add to from the PlantFiles but I was never totally pleased with it so created the Cubits one. I knew the ATP one is coming so I don't work on it too hard but my goal is to fill it in with my photos as I get them.
Here is my list of databases I have created, you click on one and then click on 'Browse All the entries' to see what I have added. http://cubits.org/Suehomegarde...

On your mini unknown, did you at one time have a tag for it? Would you recognize the name if you saw it?

On HMF, here is the list of nurseries that carry Cafe http://www.helpmefind.com/rose...
I would first check with Roses Unlimited. You will need to call them.

Yes, Sue, I might recognize the name. I used to save all my order emails but I changed internet providers and lost all my old emails. I'm hoping there is a paper list buried somewhere.
When I set up my database, I'll have a whole section of plants whose names are unknown!

Here's how you deal with a neighbor's scrub oak tree: That's my neighbor's garden to the right of the fence. Look how one of my Cecile Brunners is improving the look of that ugly oak. You'll have to enlarge to get the full picture. A month ago, one of my yellow Lady Banks roses was doing the same thing to the same tree. As soon as it stops blooming, Cecile Brunner takes over the camouflage duty.

holy crap. That rose is eating the tree! Yikes!

That's not a scrub oak. Scrub oak here doesn't get any bigger than 6' tall and is very bushy. I don't know what kind of oak that is, but even the "Quercus berberidifolia" (California scrub oak) doesn't get more than 6' normally. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q... This is our scrub oak: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q...

Zulu, I wish my NOID bagged rose from last year had survived the summer. It was NOT Intrigue as labeled, but the single bloom it delivered before its demise was a HUGE red orange that smelled wonderful. It was the only cane still producing growth at that point...and then it died. So sad.

My roses (except one) have completed their spring flush weeks ago.

Trish, you should add Caldwell Pink to your list. It's a polyantha and a later, profuse bloomer. It's my only rose with buds right now and it is a curtain of pink ...well, it was till the storms rolled through Monday night and the petals all blew to east Texas. Rolling my eyes.

Toni, the form is spot on, but Dolly is way to pink. I think the closer color comparison would be 'salmon'

I wouldn't put it past a 6' tree growing much bigger under Zuzu's care - it is right across the fence after all.
I am somewhat worried for my Climbing Cecile Brunner. I did not know who she was when I planted her a couple of years ago and I am not sure she'll have enough space after seeing yours. How old is that rose?
