Traditionally, the red and white striped ones, sold in box stores, are Minerva. Was this potted up as flowering or was this a boxed bulb that bloomed in the box?

Your amaryllis sure looks like Minerva to me. Minerva was my very first amaryllis - got it from Lowe's - I think.

to keep going down this road, have a question.

the stripped / Minerva that I got a few weeks ago was planted on the south side of my house in a raised bed, this is it today after the flowers died. should i dig it up and take inside or just cover at night and let it stay.

If you don't get prolonged cold winter rains, or temps that go below 32F, it should be fine where it is. I leave mine outdoors since our winters are mild. Though we do get rains here. But it is so intemittent anyways, and this is the only time in the year where we actually get any form of rain or fog.

I just make sure the soil is well draining enough. My enemy actually are the snails, they thrive in the damp cool weather.

My amaryllis are in containers, still holding their leaves right now and we are now getting temps in the 35F to 40F range overnight and daytime highs of 55F to 60F.

Well it looks like it is going to bloom any day, so I would leave it where it is until then. Once it blooms, glowing will slow down and it should go dormant at some point in time. What are the winter temps in your zone? Does it drop below freezing? If it does, then the bulb will die. You could watch the weather reports and if you see the ground temps are starting to drop below freezing, then I would dig it up and bring it indoors. But if possible, leave it in the ground until after blooming, or it might not bloom.

I expect it will bloom by then. If it is just a few days from blooming, or has actually bloomed and the weather hits freezing, you could always cut the stalk and put it in a vase indoors.

very pretty! Can't wait until mine get going - just took 3 bulbs out of the fridge, but not sprouting yet. I think 2 of them might start to leaf out any day though. Crossing Fingers!
It sure is an exercise in patience though.
