L. michiganense. Behind the scenes , Rick and I have been watching and discussing what we believe to be a very concentrated group of very young L. michiganense. There are about 50 or 60 of what appear to be equal in size to 2 year old seedlings coming up in an irregular but tight circle about 4 feet or 1.2 meters in diameter. Whether this colony came to be from seed or was formed by stolons of a couple mature plants is not known. I only spotted one young adult plant close to the group, but there are usually 5 or 6 mature plants in the general area of about 50 feet. Neither of us has ever seen such a large, tight group as this, ever! It is about 30 feet from my driveway. The first picture was taken May 9th. The last picture is from July, 2014. The rest were taken today.
