If I recall, I'm thinking 'Ebb Tide' may have started out being fairly dark, but fading, rather quickly & that was planted, for specifically being sited to be North Eastern , exposure, just because of it.
If you are thinking more pastel, then maybe it was 'Angel Face', I'm remembering, possibly ?
I don't think there are any Austin's that are really, truly "purple"...
Isn't there one called 'Veitchen Blue' ? But perhaps that isn't enough petals, to your liking...
Maybe there is a newer variety, , more recently produced, that has come along, since. I suppose, I could check the Database, here..
