Thanks for the welcome people.Lorn and jmorth--if you ever make it to australia, the outback is the place to see.In my younger days, like Lee Marvin, I was born under a wandering star and have seen both the good and bad of this country. Now that I'm an old bugger with full white beard, I've settled on 1.5 acres in the western districts of Victoria in a place called Nullawarre, just off the famed Great Ocean Road near the Bay of Islands. This is dairy country, so much cooler than Melbourne, warmer than Hobart, no frost and reliable rainfall.I'm within a bull's roar of some pretty wild coast line.I have quite a few koalas here, they don't do any damage and are always a welcome sight.Believe it or not, their roar and grunts wake you at night. They have nibbled at a few daffs early in the season.
Della, you will be pleased to know that I'm interested in most of the liliums that have caught your imagination and am breeding some interesting seedlings, but have registered none.Polly, I have recently become interested in irises and have siberians, japanese, tb and Louisianas.
My interests--liliums, daffs,English border carnations, dianthus, gerberas, fuchsias, glads, small bulbs, iris, heritage orchard, veges and could not be without a German Shepherd.
The lilium season has started for me with the first hansonii hybrid in flower now.Like most of us nutters, this year is going to be the best ever for seedlings!!
Regards
Paul
