Does anyone grow this? I found some seeds for 1.99 and they look awesome! Also this company called 'SmartSeeds' is a top 5 Watchdog company. 'SALVIA COCCINEA - Scarlet Sage - Lady in Red'

I grow 'Lady in Red' it isn't hardy, but it can self sow and if it does, I'm very happy! Love that Salvia! Attracts Hummers!

I went through my Salvias list, changed the ones that are annual to 'used to own' and it still says 133 Salvias. Which means, I used to grow or am growing 133.

Salvias that are not hardy for me in zone 6a die at the end of the season and I have to buy new Salvias for each season. Wish they were all hardy! Then, I would not have to get planting new plants in containers.

That sure is a lot of Salvias. I'd love to see the hummers around your place!!!

Which ones are hardy? I haven't seen any hardy ones but if you could recommend a few that would be great.

Thanks! I checked the zone 7 plants and they have several reds that might work like, 'Painted Lady', and I actually found one that is evergreen and drought tolerant but it's not red. That's fine!
Also love the bright red, Salvia disjunct, and the Salvia microphylla 'Red Velvet',..This one is bright red and will grow and bloom in the shade!! I might be able to plant it with some suntolerant hostas with a little morning sun. WhooHoo!
Great website, I will bookmark it because they are probably out of all the good stuff but I saw several that I would not mind having, especially the evergreen one, and the shade tolerant one.

I haven't found any red salvias that are hardy to zone 5. Supposedly Wild Thing is, but it dies every year. Only ones I've found to be hardy for me are Purple Rain, May Night, Pink Sensation Rose, and a white (can't remember the name). I have a few others (Blue Hills) that I'm waiting to see if they come back this year (planted last year). But all the other cool non-fuzzy salvias (Wild Thing, most of the greggii family, Hot Lips) they're always annuals for me.

Toni, what about something hardy to zone 6. Could you use that on a south side with heavy mulch? Have you ever used pots and store them.I don't like bringing pots in. I just purchase stuff on sale and let them go.

Sorry we crossed. Salvia x 'Maraschino' is hardy to zone6, I wounder if that might work on south side of house with some extra mulch??

I purchased from them when the discount first was first presented. Later I found out about American Meadow (who was once Wesley Farms). Both these places sent me terrible plants. We'll see what my plants look like coming from HCG.

I did also have a problem with AM. It could have been resolved quickly but they wanted to act like I did not know a live plant from a dead one.

Oh boy! I was so looking forward to getting some nice healthy Agastache Ava from them.

I'm glad I didn't put in an order. I'll just stick with either Santa Rosa or finding things locally.

You can still get it from HCG, they have the same standards. I had a problem with American Meadows, but they now own the garden centers and I will not visit them anyway. Too far away but they might get better.
