deepsouth said:Yes ....sooner or later, you will need to transfer your adenium to a new pot - with a much faster draining potting media ...
but doing so now, you may loose your current flower buds
I am guessing the largest flower bud will be in full bloom by this weekend
I would wait until flowering is done ...then do a repot ...
Until repotting....water sparingly ....the clay will hold water much longer
deepsouth said: Oh yeah .... to the adenium forums ...
you can repot now with flower buds ...but you might loose them all, because re-potting is a shock to the plant ...and adenium take forever to recover from most stresses (might take awhile) ...and repotting is a major stress
if you want to see a few flowers from your new plant ...go for it ....if not repot carefully, and it might pull through
once adenium "get over" stresses, they will take off in growth ...figure at least a month
make certain your new pot has drainage holes
your new potting mix should be mostly large grain sand, pebbles and rocks ...with very little organic material such as bark and coconut coir
fertilize with a 13-13-13 or 14-14-14 .... use a water soluble with all 7 of the micronutrients especially: Boron
in the tropics you will probably get another bunch of flower buds ...this season
prune early spring .... prune too late, may cut off all the flower buds ....prune too early, may cut off all the seed pods

Despite what I mentioned earlier about waiting to re-pot until after flowering ....I guess the best thing to do, is do what is best for the plant .... that is repot ....
have everything ready before repotting ...potting media mixed & ready
adenium potting media
Mix together:
1 Part: Coconut Coir -
1 Part: Redwood Bark (or) Orchid / Phalaenopsis Mix - Break-up, cut or crush larger stems & bark
1 Part: Poultry Grit (or) Pea Gravel > screen out dust
1 Part: Perlite - coarse > screen out dust
1 Part: Sand - coarse = Leveling, Horticultural, Builder's Sand > screen out fine sand & dust
1 Part: Lump charcoal - Break-up, Crush to 1/4" to ½" sized pieces > screen out dust
1 Part: Lava-rock – (volcanic cinders or pumice) > screen out dust
carefully remove from pot - disturb the roots as little as possible ..carefully knock off old clay ....rinse off the caudex with a hose ..... add about 1" layer of rock in the bottom of pot ....back-fill the bottom of pot with a hand-full of 2 of fresh potting media .... set caudex where you want it .... higher in pot A-Okay ....then back-fill around caudex ..... let sit a few days before watering in

Acorns are the fun currency here.
@plantmanager, I didn't know how to explain acorns.
@Aashna, I gave you 5 acorns so you can buy an adenium micro badge.
GigiPlumeria said:@Aashna, I know how you feel. I have a really bad rot on 2 of my big adeniums and hoping they will recover nicely. Bad timing since we have daily rain now. I had the cut dry for 2 weeks. It still keep getting wet at the patio so one recovered right away, the other one the rot has progressed so had to let it dry and Callous longer. I will be posting progress at the
The thread "Chats about Adeniums" in Adeniums forum

Update on the plant.
I reported today evening. Sad thing is root rot started. I saw few discoloured roots. Removed them, removed old soil carefully , washed it and applied cinnamon powder generously. As you suggested potted it in fresh soil with raised caudex. Have not watered it at all. Will water it after 2-3 days . I just pray that my plant survives. I am happy I sacrificed flowers for the plant. If waited too long plant would have been dead. Thanks for helping .:)
Will keep updated.
