Go looking for mosses around your yard, a neighbors or in the woods! Smiling

Looking for moss and lichens is so much fun for the mini scenes. We need a thread for moss and lichens. nodding I collect them in open terrariums that stay outside. I find they make a great little picture all on there own.

Great ideas in those pictures Audrey! Love the use of the concrete in your castle and Hobbit house. Now you have me thinking! Whistling

Aren't mosses and lichens the best. I use them all over and your horses look incredible resting under the tree on the moss. Thats all it takes to create a perfect mini garden. One or two cool items. Thumbs up

Thankyou Becky and David. I have been decorating my little 4" cutting pots too. It only takes a few minutes and it makes every pot so much more fun. Every time I see any of my pots with just a plant it looks boring to me now.

David I made that castle with grout left over from tiling the kitchen and it already has a few cracks in it. I did not design it to have cats and chickens crawling on it though. It was the first one like that I did. next time I will try one using concrete.

Charleen - What do you use to make your figurines? Fimo? You really are quite good at molding those figurines into miniature creatures!

I have a shop on Facebook called Charleen's Clay creations. You can always ask for a price.
Most run about $10.00 and postage. I made them of polymer clay I use Sculpy most of the time and the Micheal's brand. I love to make them in the colors..
thank you all for the compliments....

I love all your clay creations, Charleen. I have never worked with clay and not sure that I ever will. I have too many irons in the fire and not enough hours in a day.

Here is another Fairy Garden that I threw together last summer. I have plans to make some Mini Gardens. I went to a couple 2nd hand stores in seach of things to put in them. I have collected a lot of stuff so I guess I should get started. I can always add the plants later.

Very nice, Charlene! I don't know how you add such tiny details? I will check out your store and when my tax refund comes, I might order an item or two! Thanks for letting us know! Thumbs up

Jeanne - How cute!!!!

I am working on my very first miniature garden scene. I have a lot of small items that I can use. I just need to create the hypertufa containers. I made one. I never go small on anything! LOL! It has been quite an experiment to make the hypertufa retangular container. I already have the whole scene planned out with everything already. I am just waiting on the hypertufa to cure.

I want to make many more! This could become an another plant/craft addiction! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing

This is a photo of the mini-items that I will be using in future miniature scene projects. (I have more that are not in the photo .... which I have been collecting for years.):

Boxwood shrubs made into miniature trees. These have been sitting around my yard for years after I dug them up and added them to these little pots. I had planned to make a miniature scene, but was busy with other larger garden projects. David's forum has motivated me to start the minis! :

I have plants for a woodland scene (including David's mini plant)!

Succulents for a dryer mini garden which I need to work on a hypertufa container for that project:

I love your figurines. I should get mine set out and get a picture of them. It might give someone else ideas. I collect those dolphine figurines to put in bird baths. I didn't think of using them in a Mini Garden. You got me thinking.......

I got some Piglets & Bunnies marked down at our Tractor supply store. I want to make a little scene with them, even has a little girl feeding one of the piglets. There are lots of wonderful things out there to use in our Mini Worlds...

Becky,
Here are some pictures of some of the things I have collected for my Fairy Gardens and/or Mini Gardens. I didn't realize that I had so much stuff. Guess I better get busy making something with them. Here are some pictures of my stuff.

Charleen - Thanks! I also saw some mini-garden fairies at WalMart recently. You are right ... there are places everywhere that sell the outdoor garden mini items! You just have to look around.

Jeanne - Oh my!!!! Look at all those goodies! I could definitely come up with some cool mini landscapes using those items! Now is the time to start planning so that you are all set to go once Spring arrives. I think Spring has arrived here for me.

My current project is making hypertufa containers. I made one and have 3 more I want to make. You can also miniaturize some plants by just pruning them small. Which is what I did with the boxwood shrubs. They are going to make great trees for my mini landscapes. I will post photos when I get it all put together. I hope everyone here posts photos of their completed miniature gardens that you will be creating this year! I would sure love to see what everyone comes up with!
