They never get taller than 6". Mine are only three years old but the bulbs have already begun to increase in number. It is a reticulate iris so it blooms very early with crocus, eranthus and galanthus. Iris 'Katharine Hodgekin'.

Lynn you should have better weather up there than we have here. Do you get snow and ground freezing? Our winter starts anywhere from the end of October until the middle of March or April. Cold, snow, ice and temperatures 0 to 20 in the day time by the end of December until March. Boy! I'm depressing myself. That is why by Jan. I'm tired of winter, Feb. I'm scratching at the windows for sun or some signs of life and March I'm at the door with my rake and clippers every morning waiting for any break in the weather to go out and do some gardening. I always thought OR. had mild winters. Let me keep thinking that it is a place where I should live. I've a few Sempervivums that made it through the winter even though I planted them late. I love their simple beauty.

Ahhh, treehugger, we do have much milder weather than you do. Our problem is the end of winter, and almost all the way through spring, we have major amounts of rain.
December we did get into the middle single digits. That is unusual for us though. We did get out big snow (about 8 inches) that lasted for a little over a week.

I'll quit whining now. *Blush*
I really am thankful for our mild winters, expecially when I read about the winter weather some of you have had this year.

Those semps are looking great after a long winter sleep. As soon as your weather warms up a bit they will take off growing into healthy, beautiful semps.

I just took a photo of my Sedum 'Angelina'. As soon as we get sufficient sunshine it will turn that wonderful chartreuse/gold color. I really love this tough little sedum.

My 'Angelina' turned almost red this winter. I wonder if it a reaction to the cold. I don't think mine looks that golden until summer.

This one was very red/brown this winter. It is the short days and cold temps that make it turn that color. Your gold coloring would be later in the season than mine, because of our different climates. Our warm weather starts much earlier in the year.

I can't believe I don't have a summer photo of mine. I will try to remember to do that this summer.

Our weather warmed up and hit over 75 degrees for three straight days. THEN it started to rain, it turned to ice balls, then snow and the temperature dropped to 22 at night. Here are three of my Sedums even though the weather is now cold again. I'm just in love with these Sedums. The first one is Sedum 'Angelina', Sedum kamtschaticum and a Sedum I have no name for.

The Lemon Ball will get very yellow if give lots of sun. But you will have to go by your climate. Not sure how much Southern sun it can take and still do well.
Nice plants Chickhill.

Hey all of you, we have another convert. Hurray! Hurray! Whistling
