41degs with a windchill of 32.. and sustained winds of 20mph w/gusts up to 60mph. I'm listening to my windchimes being thrown all over the place... they're all still on their hooks, but it sounds like a ironworks being run over by a steam train out there. Poor chickens outside are probably pretty cold, but their coop is VERY stable and filled with TONS of hay, so they're probably all just snuggled up in one of the corners with each other. They're fully feathered, but still feel bad for them. And if the pressure drops any more, we will see snow by morning. Bleh. So tired of winter.... this has been a long cold winter.

Ok, I quit. I'm moving to Hawaii or someplace that I won't see SNOW IN THE MIDDLE OF MAY!!

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, indeed! Rolling on the floor laughing

We're going from 36 today to 89 on Sunday. Not going to send the winter gear off to cleaners just yet.
The grass is tall and I need to mow but I don't want to do it with winds of 40 mph and pollen counts at maximum.
We've had a mixture of dust storm (thank you, Oklahoma, for all the red dirt on my car) and smoky haze from prairie burning. The little bit of rain had a smoky taste to it.

Yeah, they are early and particularly abundant right now, we have had three hot days and we can't even sit outside in the evening. Considering we didn't have much rain this winter, not sure why they are so bad this year.

Even though 2 sides of my property border is water, I don't get mosquitoes. Guess I should appreciate the wind instead of cursing it!

No water here and I check things for standing water too so I don't know why they are so bad.

We shouldn't be seeing skeeters for another 3-4 more months.. July/August is usually skeeter season here.

There's water in Kansas? (Just kidding) In this area the mosquitoes are around all year long. I don't know where they hide during the cold winter days, but they pop right out on the warm ones. Fortunately our property is high and gets any wind available so mosquitoes are a minimal nuisance here - usually.

PPal - Actually, when I drove through Kansas & Oklahoma last year, I was shocked to see how much water there really is, especially in the southern half of KS. Very wet considering what I was expecting. Not like here.. we're dry as a bone here. And Oklahoma is a VERY green and lush state! Surprised me to hell!

Not unusual. Hilarious!
I often have hanging baskets out by now in other years. Some of the roses are now just showing signs of leaf buds.

Today's high was predicted to be like 70. I think it was nearly 90. This weekend is supposed to be even warmer.. we've gone from winter to summer w/no spring (again). But that's OK, my lilacs didn't get zapped for once.
