My cats are so funny. I was weeding about an hour ago and it started raining. Pepplegoose came running over to me and started meowing madly at me. I think he was trying to tell me it was raining and thought I couldn't tell.
Trillion's gorgeous! I love the new searchable personal lists. I searched for spoons and horns in my iris list and found that I have six Space Agers with horns and two with spoons. This is such a great new feature!
Well, I gave up on capturing the first bloom on every cultivar in my garden. The number has now gone way past 1,000. I was trying to keep a record of everything I could expect to bloom in April if I finished my pruning before Christmas, but it's going to be a lot easier to keep a record of the roses that don't bloom in April.
Anyway, before I gave up, I took these pictures a week and a half ago.
1) Aloha, the Kordes climber; 2) Altissimo; 3) Apricot Nectar
Took a tour of Napa Iris Gardens today, pretty location and even the drive up had me stopping to take photos of the trees and a vineyard shot out the window as I drove by.
I took over 570 photos at the nursery including tags.
And this is the time of year that I always show off my wisteria, so here are two photos. The first shows how it looks in my garden and the second shows how it looks from the street.

I'm gonna stop coming here. Making me even more depressed. I didn't uncover my roses from the godzillion tons of mulch and it's a good thing I didn't.. winter weather advisory and snow/rain mix for the next 2 hours.
Toni, at least your plants are safe and sound under the mulch. We dodged the hail this morning, and I don't know whether or not to plant anything or hold them in pots for another week.
I'm planting small perennials from my Santa Rosa order today, and popping in and out of the house to check Weather Channel. My dogs are actually better forecasters than the tv.
Our ground still hasn't warmed up enough for a lot of the annuals. this crazy winter!

Cindi - Not really. I just did some moving of mulch around.. a lot of the agastaches didn't like being buried under a foot of mulch. I don't think I lost ALL of them, but I lost a few.
one of my favorite roses, Della Reese, I don't think made it through the winter. And I think I lost Duftrausch too....
Extreme high wind warning today.. worked a little bit out in it this morning before work. Yuck. Hate working in 35+ MPH winds. Trimmed most of the roses in my pond area.. surprisingly with almost no mulch on them, I don't think I lost anyone in that area. But I have a LOT of work to do still...
Yesterday our winds were steady at 40mph, with gusts every few minutes at 58 and one at 62!
We had a little rain this morning. Temps are going to go down to mid 30s, so those annuals are not going to be happy.
So far all but one of my Edmunds order has started to leaf out. The other one won't, I know. That's actually better than my success rate with Palatine and Pickering this year. Fall planting just doesn't work when the winter is this bad. I even had losses on the ones I potted and kept indoors. All of the maiden roses from Wisconsin Roses are doing great.
My very established Austins in the yard are not looking good at all. I'll be pruning out over half of each one.
Last summer and fall I neglected watering and feeding, so that's part of the problem. Hopefully I'll be home more this year and can tend to them.
Maybe just maybe I'll get that drip line functioning, and that will help.

The roses I trimmed in the pond area were trimmed down to the dirt. That's just the way it is in my yard.. everything gets pruned to the dirt because that's where it's alive. Depressing. Almost 'bout ready to throw in the towel and grow just shrubs or something.
