Just looked up receipt and it was purchased last 5/22/10 from Bluestone for $6.47. They still have it and it is 3 for $12.95 today. The largest leaves are now 6" and the overall ht is without flower scape is 16." The average clump width of the 3 I have is 16." Strange that some sites have the height as 8-10."

I don't know the breeding background of mm but it was introduced in '09

I measured the 2 largest leaves and they are 6" and 5"

Yes, That is most definitely a Villosa descendent then. Your Mocha looks great. That's another workhorse, very dependable. It will get more of a Mocha color in the fall. It's another villosa descendent as is the venerable Southern Comfort. Lovey dubby

That's the thing with these Heuch's. Of those that change colors and are named after one of the colors, you can't understand why they are called that or why yours don't look like the ones in the photo. Especially that's true if it takes more than 3 years to get that color. Blinking

Thanks for posting your lovelies Kathy. Thumbs up

I was so tempted to buy a heuch yesterday. It was a collosal Plum Pudding for $7. I resisted as I have nowhere to put it right now and did not want to nurse it through the summer in a pot. It was a truly beautiful hugh plant.

Your garden is so tranquil. I wanted to ask you if there is ever problems with plants dying in the COLD MN winters. I have a friend who has lost daylilies there and I wondered about the heux.

Maybe a coincidence but no signs of the rabbit damage this morning and they haven't been hanging on the driveway so hoping it's the PlantSkyd working.

Does anyone have Mardi Gras, Chocolate Ruffles or Brownies? I saw Frosted Violet today at a nursery in MD and loved it, but not the price. $16.99 in a 1 gallon pot. It was too small for the price so I passed but it is a pretty color.

I have Brownies, it gets absolutely huge. I love the color of Brownies with the chartreuse of Citronelle and the orange of Caramel.

I was out 'assessing' last night. My Canyon Duet looks horrible.. I am hoping I can save it.

Christine, Your Coral Bell Corner is just beautiful!! Carmel is one of my favorites too.

Kathy, I never had bunnies eat the Heuchs although they love to munch on my lilies and they love eating my Heartleaf Bergenia. Hope the Plant Skyd works, I've read good things about it.

My Brownies now lives all over the Mid Atlantic region. One year I divided two of them into more than 26 plants!! We are having two different plant swaps in the next two weeks if you are interested.

I have Chocolate Ruffles and Frosted Violet, love both of them.

Carolyn, I've never seen Canyon Duet.

CD has little tiny leaves and a pretty pink flower. This is an older picture. Right now, mine has quite a bit of dead in the middle. I have been reading that is a good way to tell that the plant needs dividing, however, it seems the middle part that is dead on mine is covering a good percentage of the plant.

I know I had a lot of difficulties last year with the drought. I am wondering if that plays a part in how mine currently looks..

Thanks for all the kind words -- I will take more photo's this year as things start emerging. Also I order some Heuch from Mama Jacks coop so I will be adding to my corner!! Thumbs up

As far as dividing plants up here -- I do it in the fall -- after the summer "heat" -- usually in October -- and have seemed to have success. I mostly have hostas and daylilys.... I havent split any of my Coral bells yet..... but I suspect the timing will be the same. Smiling

Carolyn Last year was a killer for the poor Heuchs in our area. I think that yours may recover more uniformly if this wetness keeps up.

Christine, I usually divide mine in the spring only because that's when we have our swaps and I always give some away then. A couple of my Autumn Brides and a few others need dividing now, but I doubt that I'll get to it this spring.

I always divide in the spring as well. Typically that is when the trading is going on, but also I think the plants needs as much time to recover and get situated before winter.

Well since I havent really had to do anything major -- I think I may switch to spring time!!!
I divided up some Hosta's, Daylilys and Blackeyed Susan last fall.

So how long have the little buggers been above ground in the Spring before you did and split??
