I just remembered we were talking about Richard Mueller orchid types a few days ago and today on Facebook, St. Pete Orchid Farm posted one of theirs. I thought you guys might want to see it. This is 100% their picture and the name of the orchid is Bc Richard Mueller x L aurea.

The Bl Richard Mueller x sure is a beauty, Melanie.
Regarding Cattleyas named for famous ladies, most of the times First Ladies, is a common practice. I remember seeing some famous names walking through the Waldor greenhouses some years ago. Sarah Palin sure has her own following....

I hope my David Sander blooms soon and as nice, Elaine. And it is thundering and pouring rain right now here. Noisy!!

I wonder how many orchids Richard Mueller has sired?

I am just North of Fort Wayne, Indiana for a family reunion. 72 degrees for a high today and the overnight low is projected to be 51. Talk about a break from Tampa's heat and humidity. Also, it looks like a good year for the corn and soy beans. Yoo Hoo, look at that corn grow.

Sounds lovely, Jim ! Thumbs up
Oh and there are 74 Hybrids with Richard Mueller as parent. Smiling

Jumellea comorensis doesn't have a specific blooming season, this plant produces blooms here and there throughout the year. They are a bit cinnamony scented.

Sweet, graceful flowers, and my goodness what a magnificent plant! I can't wait to sample the spicy scent when my little baby plant blooms.

I'll bet you're glad to get back to the warmth after that cool dose of weather, Jim. It was a shock to my system to have to put on a coat and long pants when I was in Salt Lake.

Purple and orange crucifixes flowering. I have forgotten their real names again. Red should be out too but it is a bit slow. I am wondering if I should buy a white one (I see it on eBay) and build it up into a 4th hanging basket or pot-of-colour I move around the garden. Are they easy to grow?

I like these a lot!! Lovey dubby Charming blooms!
Talking about a white one, I have Epidendrum secundum v album and it grows like a weed! I started out with two long canes a few years ago with some roots attached and now I have a large pot and a couple of large bundles of bare root plants ( I hang them up and let the long roots trail) which grow just as vigorous. They make tiers of plants and I usually remove the third tier, so they don't hit the ceiling in Winter. So I would say, go for it!! It's a fun Orchid.

I just went into the cage and shot a couple pictures of one of the bare root bundles of the Epi secundum album. There is a basket with different Encyclias in front of it, but I think you can see the long roots well. This one is not in bloom right now.

We have a road median near Selby Gardens here that has been planted last fall with the orange Epidendrum, Glen. Drove past them yesterday and they are in full bloom, several blocks of 20ft. wide boulevard in the full, blazing sun. I have some here that have been 'overtaken' by the jungle, and now I really must rescue them, as they've stopped blooming already.

I have my radicans hanging from an oak tree with the long roots trailing downward in the air. I spray it with the hose whenever I'm out there and it couldn't be happier. The orange and yellow flowers are climbing way up in the tree and it looks great. I agree, it is a fun plant.

The orange one does well along roadsides here too Elaine. Quite beautiful. It is not invasive. I think it needs humans not too far away. They are indeed fun, Jim. Hardy, vigorous and very forgiving.

New blooms for me today Blc. mem Hans Graf X Lc. Edisto. The color is closest to the flower in profile on the right. Very purple!

Very nice, Elaine! "Edisto" is one I recognize now so when I see that in an orchid's parentage, I feel like I kind of have a feel for what it might look like. It's weird how many I've learned, but going to orchid shows and just looking at all the orchids really helps. Even scrolling through the listings on Ebay is a good way to learn if you don't live near an area where they have orchid shows. And did I mention purple is my favorite color? Hilarious!

The camera really boosted the red as usual in that picture, Ursula. I'm going out with the flash to see if I can get the color better that way. It's really a nice dusky purple, not magenta as the picture shows.

Here we go, flash pictures a little closer to the color . . . dusky purple with a deep burgundy lip.
