Thank you Bev, made the correction. Green Grin!
You won't be coming to Dancing Oaks?

I was wondering if it would be better to start at garlands , then dancing oaks, then patty's, then eat. Would then be working our way back to Salem, just a thought?

I think starting at Garland's would be a good idea as (just my guess) less time will be spent there. With all of Dancing Oaks landscaping and pathways, more time there. Patty is in between the two.

Edited to say Patty's should be before or right after Garlands, then Dancing Oaks. Otherwise you will be doing major backtracking.

Nine plus hours drive for us; We'd be lucky to make any of those places on time...May have to sacrifice a place or two. I usually prioritize at this point and would put Patty's place as major destination and decide from there. Any idea when she's taking company on that day?
Julia's got a good point but doesn't matter to us as we are coming from opposite direction (unless we decide to start one day earlier...).

I've been mulling all this over and don't know if I can make anything on Friday as it is my son's birthday. He and his wife probably won't decide anything until a day or so before. For sure I won't make Marco Polos as I am not a night driver and it will be dark for the drive home.

Saturday I plan on making the clinic at Kevin's. Don't know about Roberts Crossing for the same reason above. Depends on when we start.

I don't plan on the sale Sunday even though I am a member of that group; it is a long drive for me and my yard is full anyway!

Would be 5- 5 1/2 hours drive time for me to Corvallis. Lets see when Patty would like to see us and even if she will be in town. I'm sure she is playing with that precious grand-baby back east. Pictures!!!!!!!

We may just have to decide which nursery is the must see. Might just be too much. Bev, what time would you arrive in Salem?

Tell you what... I'll scope out Garlands a few days before and see if it is worth visiting. April is still early in the season. Late May when we usually do clinic weekend Garlands would be in full swing.

Garlands is a big nursery with several "specialty" greenhouses (one for tropicals, one for azaleas, etc). They have a decently large shade plant area; perennials are alphabetically arranged. Inside there is a separate bonsai nursery. Then another couple of greenhouses for annuals. Lots of shrubs and trees out back. They have a couple of tables of semps and sedums that are available from local (Oregon) growers. Just to give you all an idea.

On the other hand, Dancing Oaks is what I would call an "eclectic" nursery. Lots of the unusual flora. If you all decide to just do one, I would recommend this one.

Thanks Connie, good idea. I sure hope you will have some time to attend something. I'm for letting the Oregon people decide because this is there backyard playground. My agendas are always to big! Hilarious!

Julia, since Patty's place is the priority destination for me (if that day is convenient for her) I will gauge my arrival time in Salem accordingly...I have to confess... *Blush* after driving just 7 hours north from home I can hit the NEW Young's Garden Center first...so that's part of the Plan A, B and C... Hilarious!
Guess Salem might be reached when driving into Marco's parking lot?

Connie, thanks for the summary of Garland and recommendation of Dancing Oaks. Good for future reference. I am trying to leave my options open and let the Oregon people set up the skeletal schedule and we'll attend events accordingly.

Kevin, can you check with Toby to see if he will be coming to Robert's Crosssing, and if his wife will be joining us for the dinner and clinic?

I'm thinking it will be JUST Toby but I'll check. They did come up to do shopping last spring as Salem has more shopping spots so his wife and kids did the park and shopping while Toby and I dug plants.

Let him know that we would love to meet his family, even if they don't stay for the clinic.
Also, would you ask him if he will be bringing semps to sell at the clinic? The new introductions?

And I vote that the gardener should at least be our own Julia... Whistling if not, how about Lynn or Greg? Big Grin
