Burling is a very nice knowledgeable lady who really cares. We had a wonderful conversation over the phone. She sent my roses in excellent condition and carefully packaged. I was so impressed with her, I sent her photos of the roses and another order. I told her over the winter I would look up the roses she is offering as I was not familiar with them.

Would you believe that my roses are having their first flush now? Very late even in the Poconos.

My poor roses have been moved about twice and weathered the two most severe winters in recent memory. I am thrilled that many survived!

The blooms are small. My gardens are still more weeds than plants. It is worth the bother when you see the blooms!

I have added a couple of circular plantings for hybrid tea cutting roses. I had previously focused on hardy roses on their own roots. I have one pink hybrid tea on its own roots, Curly I think, which is holding its own with the pink standard hybrid teas.

My labels got lost in the shuffle, so it is an adventure.

I envy all your lovely roses. The last two winters really did a number on my roses. Sad
Some died back to the snow line and didn't rebound well and even some very hardy OGR's have died back.
But part of that could be my lack of regularly fertilizing them as well.
I think I'm going to shovel prune some and not replace due to the beetle problems.
I'm thinking I want to plant more Lilies because many are so fragrant and the beetles
aren't as attracted to them as rose.
Any suggestions for other plants (flowering shrubs) that would be good replacement for roses?
I really can't think of anything I would love as much as roses. Confused
It would be so much easier if I was a hosta geek.

Hi Vicky @Cottage_Rose!
Do you grow any weigela?
I love this one as it's pretty even out of bloom.

The roses are done for now and should bloom again in August. Meantime it is daylily and lily blooming time here in my garden.
