Thanks for the info on their culture method. A bit extreme for my little yard though. Especially transplanting every fall. Now that would get the neighbor's sending the paddy wagon! Rolling on the floor laughing

They do the transplanting because they are growing a commercial garden.

That is true Lucy, though I sometimes wonder if it would help to dig them up, add soil treatments, and replant them every two or three years (about when you would divide them).

Superstition has to divide every year. When dividing in our private garden it doesn't hurt to add nutrients, like compost.

True, can't really do the cover crop thing in an ornamental garden, but I do like to amend the soil well after I divide. Alfalfa pellets seem to be a good form of green manure.

Marilyn's seedling has a couple more stalks.
It's a cross of the SDB Smell The Roses and the Arilbred Kalifa's Robe.
Kalifa's Robe opened today, but not fully enough to get a good picture.
Joe Ghio's PCI Big Money and a seedling PCI of his continue to send up short stalks.
Hard to get a good picture.

Speaking of short stalks, this IB opened about two inches off the ground.
It was tagged Fond Remembrance, but that's a purple iris so this is an unknown for now.

Lovely irises, Carl. Your unknown IB looks a lot like IB Lemon Pop.

Lemon Pop does not have any orange in it and this one has very colorful haft marks which Lemon Pop does not have. This unknown also has very distinctive "Laced" edges while Lemon Pop does not. Just my two cents.

database

Hmm, just noticed that oddly enough the beard color looks different (pictures taken at different times of the year), but this stalk is definitely from a rhizome in one of the miniclumps from the three original rhizomes. No other irises were ever grown there. What gives? Confused I hope the nursery didn't send me mixed rhizomes! I guess I had better go check for fragrance...
Evaluating an iris seedling, hopefully for rebloom

Poly - check the beard also from different angles. The orangy color could be caused by the shade and angle of the database pic and not because the beard is actually a different color.
