The soup is Livin' Large! You will all Love the entries for L, there are so many chose from, unlike certain letters who's names won't be mentioned, but they start with K. Anyway, L leading botanical names are one of the last fat sections of the encyclopedias of plants, so make hay while the sun shines. I am starting with a Little Lavender, and then Leucanthemum Broad Way Lights....and then a Lonicera utahensis which I really should be saving for U, but I am throwing caution to the wind. Toss those lilies and ligusticums, those lipstick plants and the odd landscape into the soup, don't stand on ceremony!

I have to admit, I prepared for the letter 'L' in advance; a short list compiled during some down time...Here's what was on page 3:

A Lily, I have more but this is a martagon called Winnepeggy, sent to me by a friend in Edmonton. Half the bulbs were eaten by bears but a few made it. Moral: don't put blood and bone meal in planting holes in an habitual bear trail, even if it crosses over a new garden. I co-habitate with these big guys, its their river not mine.

Just in case anyone is reading this... I will start up M sooner than this Sunday, as March is nigh. Unless there is a sudden flood of Ls.

I loves lily, but the only lilium grows freely in my climates is Lilium formosanum,
These few lilium are grow-able, but need chilling of bulbs for a few months, too much trouble...

this one is really grown and sold as a soup ingredient

Now for some Daisies or Leucanthemum:

(Sorry - I just checked back to the 'A's and saw that I'd entered this Leucanthemum 'Aglaya' there already! Oops!)

And again, one that isn't registered in the Database yet: Thumb of 2018-03-01/HemNorth/03d8e5

And then there is Lewisia -
And Liatris -
And Liatris Kobold or Floristan Violet? Thumb of 2018-03-01/HemNorth/75f714
