If I still lived in NM I would say whatever bush or weed that produces goatshead stickers or burrs. Lord I tore up my bare feet on those and always had to pull them out of the dog's paws.

Funny story about us Connecticut people who moved to NM. Mom was a canner--of everything! So when we moved to NM, we rented at first so the parents could house hunt and our rental home was right on the border of a huge expanse of undeveloped desert filled with prickly pear cactus. She had us out there the first week in the state, with 5 gallon buckets, leather work gloves and bbq tongs picking the ripe cactus pears so she could make jelly! Not sure what the locals must have thought of the new neighbors:lol:

Hilarious! Hilarious! So funny. Had to laugh! My Grandfather just about killed himself picking all the blackberrys (not the phone) when they came from Montana.
If i had a fourth it would have been Masquitoes. Never even thought of bugs.

1. slugs
2. weeds
3. digging, pooping cats

I'm probably cheating by listing all weeds as one pest, but I have a lot of weeds:
English Ivy
Ranunculus / Buttercup (like Strawberry)
Cardamine - Bittercress
Purslane

I have lived with gnats ( no-see-ums) in the house all winter. I think they were in the potting soil. What pests they are. Fly right to my face and get between my eyes and glasses, not to mention going up my nose.
I am affraid my days of coleus cuttings over winter are at an end.

Mix a little peroxide with the water you water them with. I use about two cap full per quart. This will take care of the problem, because it will kill any fungus in the soil that attracts the gnats. This new potting soil called organic has a lot of rotted matter and it will grow fungus. Do the peroxide everytime you water and keep that fungus under control. Thumbs up

http://www.using-hydrogen-pero...

This link advises 0.1% H2O2 to water or mist plants,
for soaking seeds or washing sprouts,

Starting with 3% drugstore-strength, not food-prep-cleaning strenegth:

0.1%:
1 quart water
+ 1 oz (2 TBLSP) of 3% H2O2)

or

1 gallon water
+ 1/2 cup of 3% H2O2

=

The same site suggests double-strength (0.2%) for spraying on sick or fungusy-plants.

0.2%:
1 quart water + 1/4 cup = 2 oz of 3% H2O2
or
1 gallon water + 1 cup of 3% H2O2

Well, it's weeds. I don't think I can stop counting at 3.

Dandelion
Morning glory (the tiny one, with small white blooms) = Convolvulus arvensis would be the Latin name
Oxalis corniculata var atropurpurea (and a similar one, growing a bit taller, green leaves and yellow flowers, too)
Portulaca oleracea - this one is tricky. sometimes I see big plants, covering a large area and still not blooming and sometimes I am too late - a tiny plant could already have split seed capsule!!!
My dad's plum trees - he planted them before I decided to have my flower garden - and since he needs the plums for the alcohol he makes, no way of convincing him! = also, many many offshoots coming up from the roots (as well from fallen fruit)
Neighbor's chickens (my flower garden is sort of in the street, between the house and the road.

I love my Bermuda Grass. I edge the flower beds and it never gets in them. However, from time to time some Crab Grass comes up in the lawn and I hate that stuff with a passion!

Rick - I feel your pain. The lady across the street has dogs and cats. I lost it and went off a couple of weeks ago after her dog dug up my new rose bush.
