My Palatine order is the best I've ever seen. I'm already making up my wish list for next September. i'm moving a lot slower on getting them planted because those roots are so huge. I should have asked for earlier shipping--it's already been in the upper 80s here but tonight we have a frost warning. Should be in 70s all the next week, with horrible winds. I think I'll have to protect those bare canes with a big bag of mulch.
So glad Zuzu alerted us to when they started taking orders, because most of what I ordered ended up selling out. Sure hope I can get these roses to grow because I got some real special ones. Lovey dubby

I did a check on all my roses from Palatine. All but two have real leaves on them. Only Day Breaker & Red Intuition don't have actual leaves, but both have leaf buds so I'm not too overly worried. However, I lost (!) 2 canes on Red Intuition, so I'm holding my breath on that one. Summer Sun has tons of little leaves all over it! I think I'm going to make a specific part of my yard a "Palatine corner" with roses only from them. Drooling Drooling Drooling Can't wait to see everyone bloom! But I have a few more months to go before then...

I wish I had taken a picture of the roses in that order. Red Intuition had the smallest roots, but they were at least 15" long. I didn't trim any roots off, just bit the bullet and dug super deep holes. Discovered I have great soil and water when I go down 3 feet. Orange Veranda is kind of hiding on their online catalog and there's not much on it in Help Me Find. Palatine sent it without a nametag. It just had a tag with "product of Canada" and my name. Ha. Maybe they named a rose after me. It was the only one that didn't have a second tag on the roots, also.
I got:
Red Intuition, Jasmina, Orange Veranda, Brothers Grimm Fairytale, Aloha Hawaii, Summer Sun, Summer Song, and Rosanna. Guess I was needing orange roses?
I still have 'Sunrise, Sunset', 'Cinnamon Spice', Morden Sunrise and Oso Easy Strawberry Crush coming and that may do it for this year. For mail order, anyway.
Who knows what I'll find at nurseries.. Whistling Whistling
But I'll bet none of them are as nice as the Palatine roses.
I would kinda like to hear what other people ordered from them, and see pics, because I am seriously wanting to make another order in September and not even mess with other companies.
Hurray!
I say that while crossing my fingers that they do all leaf out and grow. *Blush*

I have to say, all & all, considering how hot & dry my summer's been, that Palatine has offered the absolutely BEST roses that $ can buy. I have lost a grand total of 2 roses from all that I have ordered (granted, not that many, less than 20 roses, but for me, less than 10%? outSTANDING!), their prices are extremely reasonable, their roses come in gorgeous with extremely healthy root systems, and they seem to tolerate extreme weather conditions FAR better than any other rose that I have ordered from ANYONE.

They are TOPS in my book and my definite go-to source for now on. Not to mention that Rachel is SOOOO nice!!! Just have to wait & drool for the 2013 offerings...

I know these are on my top of the list for ordering:
Monica - http://palatineroses.com/rose/...
Buxom Beauty - http://palatineroses.com/rose/... (lost mine from RU I think)
Manou Meilland - http://palatineroses.com/rose/...
Rosanna - http://palatineroses.com/rose/...

Shannon - Yes, the day they open up for sales is when I ordered, otherwise I might miss out because they have a limited supply. And since I'm so far west, I just wait until midnight their time to place my order. Cheating, yes, but I don't order like 30 of the same rose for resale, I just want one. I ordered something close to four dozen roses from them this spring and lost just one. There was also a rose that produces blooms indistinguishable from Double Delight that was shipped as Erinnerung an Brod. But I must say that I have been pleased or wowed with every other rose in that order.

I ordered in September and noticed that several of the cultivars that I nabbed were out of stock by October.

Cindi, I'm glad to hear that heat is not destroying your new roses. I bought three Rosanna. At this moment one is growing vigorously and blooming and two are sitting there just being green. No climbing yet. (The difference is that the blooming one got ummm.. lightly pruned by some squirrels that have since been relocated and was a little behind the other two.) I'm very pleased with the look of Rosanna in bloom.

Oh.....well, Steve, it's all relative. When I say something is growing wonderfully, it means it has green leaves, green canes, and maybe had a bloom some time this year. My new roses are at best 2' tall. They all lost all their leaves on May 30 in the hail storm, so they had to start over after that. Then the heat hit, and the wind, and it hasn't let up for the last month. So....wonderful to me is probably what you called sitting there just being green. Rolling on the floor laughing Green is good. I'm happy with green this year.
My order from Palatine came within a few days of my order from Edmunds, and each of them had at least 1 rose that never broke dormancy. I need to call both companies about that.

I ordered 7 Palatine roses for my DMIL, and every time we talk to them I get another enthusiastic report about them. I think she's getting more blooms from those 7 new bushes than she got from her whole rose garden during its last couple of years.. it was done over, and one quadrant is still roses (we brought that corner several feet forward for better sun), but the rest is shade garden now. I'm sure the extra sun helps, and I think the replanting I did helped also (the guy hired to plant them did an awful job, holes 6 inches wide and the bud union 3 inches above ground; Palatine gave me good advice, and I put them in holes about 2 feet wide & deep... awsome roots!). But the biggest difference is just the quality of those plants, especially with how they're performing their first year!

So glad to hear this report, Jill. I remember when you had to replant them.

I'm really sold on Palatine. I don't think any other nursery even comes close.

Zuzu, we're all counting on you to ring the bells when Palatine opens again this September. They are the BEST! I am so glad I took your advice and ordered from them last September.
Hurray!

I'm reclaiming and maybe even expanding my garden areas here... going to leave room for some shrub roses, and Palatine is the first place I'll look when I'm ready to add them in. Thanks again to everybody here for all your help!!
