Yes Kate, I been thinking of you because I remember your long list of plants that you were selling. Going to put in an order this spring, know were is that list so I can drool over it until the snow melts. I'll look on your profile.
Nope, not so. There is a distinct difference between the two. Very obvious by site if your put them side by side and compare. They also come from different origins.
Here is a link to the post that talks about the difference. It was very exciting when we found this information. http://garden.org/thread/view_...
Thanks for the info Lynn, its funny how many webpages say they're the same, when clearly they look different
One more type that I want I have Oddity, its Griggs surprise that I will get later this year!
Cheers
It was tabby that introduced me to Griggs Surprise while I was visiting her in Colorado. She had the two growing in the same location, very definitely different semps.
Her place is also amazing. It was wonderful to be able to meet her in person.
I need to go out and see how mine is handling all this wet weather.
It is a very young plant.
One us should be able to help you find this one Spring. You have to be very careful in where you get it, many are calling Oddity, Grigg's Surprise. Easy to tell if you study the leaves.
Gregg, yes and I'm looking forward to meeting you in the spring to do a swap. I was thinking I would be fun to have both. Oh, there is that obsession thing!! from me.
Maybe Kate will have Griggs Surprise. I'm going over her list from last year. Sure is fun looking at all the pictures.
Did you check out the database to see who has it? Top left corner will tell you who has it?
I checked to see if one of the nurseries has it this year. None seem to be carrying it.
SMG had it earlier (Oct) but I noticed they don't have it listed now
Spring - yes me too, looking forward to meeting you and figuring out an exchange (and I also want both Oddity and Grigg's surprise!)
Then I hope that several of us from this area will head south to go to the Semp. hybrid class and we can meet even more folks in person!
Cheers
We are not certain of the date, due to the fact that Kevin just found out he has to have cataract surgery in Feb (one eye) then the other as soon as the first heals.
The clinic may not be until April some time. Which is fine with me, by then we usually have some nice weather.
That works for me also! (I will make anytime work though, especially for the first part, I'm excited to do "yard tours" in his yard, and Lynn, in yours and I want to contact Don from SMG and ask him about letting a group of us tour his "yard" too
For some reason it caught my attention, then wondered what the seed would produce.
I find it interesting that your Grigg's Surprise has pale colored blooms.
I sure would like to see Oddity in bloom, bet it will have pink blooms.
