Journey, Sept.29

Well the beast let me log onto the net first try today...go figure! Hopefully it won't eat this entry. Bill has had a rough few days. Early to bed and still asleep when I get up...not at all like him. This morning he was miserable...lots of gunk to cough up which took a lot out of him. He and Richard are watching TV right now. Got a lovely and generous card in the mail today...don't know who to thank, but I'm smiling! Sue changed the dressing on Bill's central line yesterday and flushed it. Looks much better without the dog/people hair caught in the many layers of tape added each time he gets a bath. LOL Filled out paperwork that needs to be notarized. Richard's daughter is a notary, so she's going to come by later today to take care of it. Sure glad I don't have to drag him someplace to get it done...can't even entice him to join me watching the birds. At least he can see the one feeder from the hosp. bed. It has been busy with the chick-a-dees and titmice that he loves. YEA!! Bill pretty much has no appitite, but at least he DID pick at the shrimp and a cinnamon roll the other night, for which I was grateful. I totally enjoyed mine. YUMMMMM good stuff. And so we plod along one day at a time always gratefuf for the love and support from friends. All ya'll are wonderful. (((HUGS)))

Journey, Sept.26

5 blue screens from this hateful beast today before I could get on line. Went to town yesterday with a friend...was so very thankful that Richard was here as it took longer then expected. Sue had called an RX into WalMart for Bill, but for some reason they never got it. GRRRRR She was supposed to be out with the ensure, but something came up so she called to say she couldn't make it, would this morning be OK. Sure, no problem. Told her about the RX so she called it in to Walgreens instead...hospice deals with them alot. Bill actually ate a small piece of caramel apple pie with a small shake for dinner. YEA!!!! I am so happy to see him eat something. Restless night for us both.

This morning Sue called to say she was running late...no prob...fed the dogs and put them outside. I could hear something in Sue's voice that told me she was "up to something". In addition to the ensure for Bill, she brought me a bag of wild birdseed!!! Bill's BP was 80/60 at rest...good for him. After she left, I ran out to the post office. When I got home I made Bill an ensure chocolate shake...he actually drank almost all of it !!!. Boy was I ever happy. Brenda came by quick with the requested cinnamon rolls. Bless her heart...she had also given me money for birdseed on Monday which I got on the way home yesterday. Hopefully I can entice Bill to sit in the screen room to watch the birds with me...also moved one feeder where he can see it from the hosp. bed. Life is pretty good, considering, and friends are the BEST. For dinner tonight Bill wants shrimp cocktail and a cinnamon roll. LOL Fine with me..I will be thrilled to see him hopefully eat both. All in all Bill's attitude remains fairly good at this point, for which I am truely grateful. I hope it will be a good night for him. Sue comes tomorrow to change the dressing and flush his central line...would be nice if he could have a decent night's sleep...fingers crossed.

Sept 24 continued

Bill went to take a nap since Sue had not called yet. That's cool. I put on my soap opera and the phone rang....it was Brenda headed my way with a surprise. I'm thinking cinnamon rolls that Bill had requested. NOT...a package from a member here. a very AWSOME package. Soup to nuts so to speak including treats for the dogs. Just as Brenda was leaving, Sue called...they passed on the turn off my road. Sue had a no holds barred talk with Bill. Perhaps not what he wanted to hear, but no sugar coating. She will be back tomorrow with vanilla ensure that he hopefully will be able to get down turned into a choc milkshake. She commented on how much weight he had lost since she saw him a week ago. Since he has not been eating, his body has no caloriers to feed on and it really shows. Hopefully the ensure shakes will help...otherwise he will just waste away until there is nothing left for his body to feed on. I asked about beer and Sue said let him have it if he wants...not GOOD calories, but at least calories. Sent her home with many more plants. She and her daughter will come on her off time to help get stuff in my GH...she INSISTS as thanks for what I am giving her. DUH....I appreciate HER. Bill is settled for the night I hope. And to make today even more better...it's one of my banners featured. Damn...throw away the bad and it is a very good day...my silver lining (did I spell it right, Sharon?) for today. Love all ya'll.

Journey, Sept. 24

Most would say TGIF, but for me today it's TGIM. Bill had a really hard weekend. I almost called hospice Friday night...he felt so lousy in spite of the meds he had taken and I wasn't sure what to try/give next. Finally he fell asleep so I didn't call. Don't rightly remember what all went on Saturday, but Sunday I went to visit with Brenda for a few hours. I so needed a break and had a great time. Lots of laughs and heart to heart talking. When I got home, Richard wasn't there. He had called after I left to say he wouldn't be over. Poor Bill was home alone while I was at Brenda's. At this stage of the journey, not the end of the world, but he sure felt sorry for himself. He napped and woke up not wanting to eat ANYTHING. Sure wish I could come up with something that would appeal to him and he could eat easily...didn't even want a milkshake. Took his BP around 6pm...again about 5mins. later. It was pretty low and he felt rotten. Deceided to call hospice. The nurse confered with the doc and it was deceided to take him off both diuretics that the doc in Chipley had ordered. Had me check his feet...both looked good with no more edema. After talking about Bill we got to talking dogs. She has a full grown Irish Wolfhound that was bred to be smaller...only weighs 80lbs. Wow...the usual standard would be a minimum of 120lbs. she said. Anyway after yakety yak we hung up and I got Bill settled in for the night. Was a long night for him and he woke up tired. Sue called this morning and will be out this afternoon sometime to check on him. Hope she had a good week off, but I sure am glad to have her back!! Maybe now we all will be able to figure out just what is "normal" at this point for Bill with not so many different nurses checking on him. Hopefully more later, if this hateful beast will let me get on line again Only one blue screen this time around. YEA
