A Meadow of Wildflowers
Posted on Sep 10, 2011 1:41 PM

When I got up this morning, I had every intention of spending the cooler morning and early afternoon in the yard doing clean up. There are branches and leaves everywhere...not from storms, but just in general. However, the best laid plans sometimes take a detour.

After running to the post office I got sidetracked by the TV. FOX news was doing live coverage of the Flight 93 Memorial dedication in Shankesville, Pa. And I knew I had to watch, even though I'm certain it will be repeated or at least highlighted many times. But I wanted to see it unfold live. And I'm glad I did. It was very well done. Respect and love for the 40 HEROS on United flight 93 was quite obvious. The speaches and music brought tears.

Ten years ago, tomorrow, I was not yet up when the phone rang and Bill said "Turn on the TV". Could not believe what my eyes were telling me I was seeing. I sat in bed glued to the horrific scene while the dogs wondered what was wrong with Mommy and why their breakfast was late. Most of the next few days was spent in front of the TV.

Recently I have seen most of the six part series on the re-building of Ground Zero. I have no doubt that the yard will again be put on hold tomorrow as I watch the various rememberances and memorials that will be covered on TV. And so I invite anyone reading this who would like to share a respectful comment or memory of 9/11/2001 to do so.

Remembering Rainbow Bridge fur babies
Posted on Sep 8, 2011 12:21 PM

Here is a place for you to pay tribute to your babies who have passed. Hugs in advance to you all.

            Rainbow Bridge Poem

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.
