New 2006 and divided only once in 2011. It is a lovely green hosta with attractive leaves and a nice form. Fully double lavender flowers in August and I enjoy this one.

This was a bonus plant. I decided I had other blue hostas I preferred and gave it to a friend who really wanted a blue hosta.

Hosta 'Galaxy'

New August 2016 and doing well. I will have to adjust its position in the garden to give it more space.

Hosta 'Gemini Moon'

Have
New 2008. Doing very well and is looking large in 2018 when many of my other hostas suffered a bit.

Hosta 'Ghost Spirit'

Have
New 2008. Hard to believe I've had this one for a decade. I love this one. I never know whether it will be mostly white or misty when it emerges and it depends a lot on the year how misty it gets during the season.

Hosta 'Ginko Craig'

Have
One of my earliest hostas acquired before 2000. I used to have a large border of it, but decided that I didn't want to dedicate that much space to this variety. Dug it out and now have more interesting varieties there, but kept a little bit. It does divide easily and makes a good border.

Hosta 'Gold Drop'

Grew well, but never was really gold but rather a dull chartreuse. I got bored with it and gave it away.

Hosta 'Grand Prize'

Have
New 2011 and until 2018 it has been very small. It is much larger this year.

Hosta 'Grand Tiara'

Have
New 2007 and it has been a fast grower for me.

Hosta 'Great Expectations'
Icon for preview
Have
One of my earliest hostas, acquired in the late '90s. It has not grown fast, maybe because it is quite close to a thirsty Linden tree. I've also needed to removed some reversion to solid colour (Elegans) a couple of times.

Hosta 'Green Eyes'

I acquired this plant in 2010 but it died during the 2016 season. However, I had shared it with a friend and was able to get a division back late in 2016. It did well in 2017 but suffered winter 2017-18 and is very small in 2018.

I purchased this plant for the hosta garden at my church a few years ago. In 2017, that garden was dismantled due to the loss of its shade tree and indecision over where the new church sign will go. I fetched this plant before the rest of the gardeners got their hands on it and took three divisions from it - one for me, a larger one for the person who had been our interim pastor for a year, one for a friend. Then I brought what was left of the original plant and my division home. My division is in my front garden. The rest of the plant is safe in a holding bed until they decide what to do at the church. Two photos: my division (smaller) and the original.

New 2009. This one took awhile to settle down and look like it was supposed to. It had several different, but dull sports (solid gold, solid green) but finally began to look normal for GR.

Hosta 'Halcyon'

Have
This was one of my earliest hostas in the late '90s and friends on another garden web site helped me ID it as 'Halcyon' well over a decade ago. I've sometimes wondered as the growth rate is slow, but after a recent discussion about it again, I'm sticking with 'Halcyon'. I have two divisions. The one that looks smaller and is more green is my original and it is too close to my Linden tree, and hence, too dry. It also gets some afternoon sun because two large ash trees to its west were removed about 4 years ago. The other, now larger, division came from the original quite awhile ago. It is farther away from a tree and also gets less sun.

This is a new plant in 2018. My original plant, acquired awhile ago, just didn't grow and got smaller and smaller and finally did not make it through winter 17-18. This one is larger than my original ever was.

Came from a friend in 2013 and has done well. For the last 4 years, after we removed a tree, it has received more sun than I thought ideal, but it has grown well.

New 2008. Love the free-form mound of this plant.

Hosta 'Heavenly Tiara'

New 2011. I had this one in a bit more sun and it did all right, but not spectacularly until we had to removed a sick tree 4 years ago. Suddenly it got a lot more sun and while it grew, it faded out to ugly. I moved it to a spot that had proved too shady for some hostas and it has taken off.

Hosta 'Hidden Cove'

Have
New 2008. For years I had this plant in a location that was too dark and it did nothing. Got decimated by slugs each year as well. And it got smaller. I moved it spring 2017 to a location with more light and it is doing much better.

New 2008. Photo is from 2017. Later in the summer, after this photo was taken, I divided the plant. Half was relocated in the garden and half was pledged to my horticultural society's spring plant auction and was grown in a pot. That section did well and was sold for a good price. My own section was dug up twice and left to die by squirrels before I replanted and put decorative stones around it. It survived, but didn't look wonderful in spring 2018; so I dug it and am growing it in a pot for awhile. It is recovering but I expect it to take awhile.
