Hosta 'Holy Mouse Ears' |
Prev |
Another white-centred mouse which reverted to solid blue. Gave it away.
Hosta 'Hope' |
Have |
New 2003. This was the first plant I acquired of this series of plants ('Baby Bunting' and 4 sports) and it's been one of the better growers. It is a true mini though.
Hosta 'Ice Age Trail' |
Have |
New 2006. But my 2017, it was barely streaked. I finally dug it and carefully divided it, yielding a few streaked eyes which I grew in a pot and a couple large divisions of 'Big Daddy' (sold blue). It's still in a pot a year later, but a larger one, and it's doing really well. Will be looking for a garden location for it.
Hosta 'Ice Cream' |
Have |
New 2007. Well established though the mound has developed some "fairy ring". Doesn't show once leafed out, but at some point, I'll dig and divide this one.
Hosta 'Illicit Affair' |
Have |
New 2008 and has grown larger than I expected it to. There are, however, three individual divisions planted in this mound.
Hosta 'Invincible' |
Have |
New 2005. I love the shiny leaves. But slugs love this one too. It was always full of holes by the time it bloomed and I decided to get rid of it. But I did put one small division at the back of my veggie garden where it has flourished and is far less bothered by slugs as well.
Hosta 'Island Breeze' |
Have |
New 2015. This sport from 'Paradise Island' has grown far better for me than either PI or 'Fire Island'. Yet in early spring it is quite yellow albeit with a nice green margin and it has the lovely red petioles.
Hosta 'Island Charm' |
Have |
My first division of this was a dud. This came from a friend in 2013 and grows better, but still not as well as I'd like it to.
Hosta 'Janet' |
Have |
New 2005. A few years back she threw off a streaky white sport which eventually settle into solid white with a margin and which I didn't keep, but gave away. Love the seasonal colour changes on this one. She'll be nearly white by August.
Hosta 'Jewel of the Nile' |
Have |
New 2005. Of late it's been reverting to solid yellow and I have a magnificent yellow hosta that was divided from JOTN. This one is medium-large and virtually no leaf is that same as any other.
Hosta 'June' |
Have |
New 2006. I now have two divisions, one taken from the other. I grow them in different areas of my yard and they usually look quite different in colour with this one, which gets morning sun, showing a great deal more yellow than the other.
Hosta 'Karin' |
Have |
New 2006. This is the name of my elder daughter. The plant sometimes has a tendency to drawstring a bit if the spring weather is wet.
Hosta 'Katsuragawa Beni' |
Have |
New 2006. This one has grown best for me in a pot where I can raise it to show off its red petioles.
Hosta 'Kifukurin Ko Mame' |
Have |
New in the late '90s. One of my first hostas. This mini makes a delightful border and I have it in four places in my yard though the two in the back yard that are close to the neighbour's Linden tree don't grow as well.
Hosta 'Kinbotan' |
Have |
New 2010. This fast-growing mini is similar to Kifukurin Ko Mame except the leaves are not as wavy. It makes a superb ground cover.
Hosta 'Korean Snow' |
Have |
New 2004. LOVE this misty hosta. It looks good all season. It's a very late bloomer and viable seed from it is not assured, but I do have a couple of nice seedlings, though both are solid green.
Hosta 'Lakeside Cranberry Relish' |
Have |
New 2009. I like this plant a lot. But mine has proven to be somewhat rhizomatous, preferring to spread out a bit in the garden rather than growing in a nice, compact clump.
Hosta 'Lakeside Cupcake' |
Prev |
Gave this one away. I wasn't thrilled with it and a friend wanted one.
Hosta 'Lakeside Elfin Fire' |
Have |
New 2007. At one stage, I tried to grow this one into a border, but found it really wasn't vigorous enough. It has taken a few years to get it back into a nice mound.
Hosta 'Lakeside Looking Glass' |
Have |
At least I'm calling it 'L. Looking Glass'. It's the reversion to solid green from 'Lakeside Reflecting Glass'. LRG was new in 2012 and this was divided from it in 2016. |
