As always - gorgeous photos - from all across the world! Thanks for posting everyone.

I finally "caught up" and got my photos out of the camera. These cooler temps and all that rain have sure made my daylilies go like crazy this year - and some of my earlies are still blooming 5-6 weeks later. It has never been so good here.

I am pretty sure this is Proudly We Hail - this scape looks like a leek! It's HUGE! I also can't verify this - because I can't find a photo to compare it to anywhere, even the hybridizers website. I never have gotten around to asking him if it is or not. I love this flower no matter what it is, so I don't mind.

Steve's Corn Rows - this large flower is on a very short scape - but I just got it a few months ago. Love it

And look at this gorgeous little FFO today - Little Surfer Girl, a mini. The photo does NOT do it justice, the colors are more vivid than this - and I just LOVE it. Now it needs to increase a bit (OK, I AM pushing it's zone)

Even though I am past peak, I still have a lot blooming. The cooler weather and excess moisture has helped, but I will admit that some of my ones with teeth - are missing them.I wish I had taken a toothless photo of Tooth Tower today to compare it with ones from several weeks ago Big Grin

And I have to admit, that at this point, I have to say the absolute best bloomer this summer has been Holly Dancer. There is something to be said for some of these older ones. The color is SO gorgeous, and the number of buds STILL waiting to bloom this year is outstanding. Wish my camera could capture the color and substance of this flower better - I have been trying to get a better picture since it started blooming 5 weeks or so ago.

My Indian Giver, which outdid itself last year, still doesn't have any scapes - I am not sure I will see any blooms on it this season - bummer.

Beautiful daylilies and pics everyone!

The wild rabbits (Eastern Cottontails) have chewed off some of the stems that had buds on them, so I would have had more flowers blooming. Guess they were tasting the stems, didn't like them and left them on the ground.

Jan- HOLLY DANCER has been a standout here for many, many years. I think most of Jamie Gossard's lovely reds go back to HOLLY. I wish it would have stood a chance at a Stout Medal for Dottie. It really is an outstanding red. It does "canoe" a bit, but it's got good branching, nice scapes, good budcount. And, it's a really good parent. I have it in the tet conversion also. Thumbs up

Juli I agree with your comments on Holly Dancer. It has always been great for me - but this year... WOW. And it does deserve the Stout Medal in my opinion

As for Indian Giver - I wonder if it doesn't like all the rain we had earlier this season - or if it is an every other year type of flower. It bloomed like crazy last year for me- then rebloomed. But we did have a ton of snow also this past winter too.

Thank goodness rabbits aren't too major of a problem here, usually. They do tend to migrate to my blueberry bushes, which I now have fenced. And I have dogs, which love to chase them. Are you sure they aren't having jousting matches with your scapes instead? Whistling ~Jan

Rabbit jousting matches with DL scapes! Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing My Mom used to HATE rabbits because they always did that to her plants - chop off a stem of whatever with loads of unopened buds, and then not even eat it! At least they don't damage the entire plant that way. I want Holly Dancer. I have a few of Jamie Gossard's reds that I need to check to see if it's in their backgrounds...

Jan: Just to confirm what you said about 'Indian Giver'. It was the top 'underperformer' in my garden this summer with just 1 scape and 2 buds. It definitely must have something to do with the abundance of rain this year. Sad

Well that makes 4 of us that had an underperforming Indian Giver. It must not have liked all the rain.

Just as a matter of interest, I just counted up those plants that did not bloom this summer. Not counting the seedlings, I had 28 plants that did not bloom at all. Some are new to the garden this Spring, so I can't fault that, I do have older plants that still have never bloomed for me, but have increased in fan size, which is good. I was disappointed that 'Bridey Greeson', which bloomed last year, had no blooms at all this year. The same with Trimmer's, 'Florence Denny', bloomed last year, but not this summer. I amended the soil around 'Dovelicious' a SF which produced another new fan this summer. Hurray! I have learned which hybridizers or LA sellers which state SF usually send DF's and triple fans, or at the least give you the plant increases. I do keep a list of LA sellers that I would not purchase any more plants from. I do realize that some plants are slow to increase. For my zone 4b garden, with such a shortened growing season, this info is invaluable to me.

I was sure Indian Giver would be a good bloomer but It did nothing. I think one small flower was all I saw and it was not photogenic. Whistling

Wet, warm, humid so different from the chilly dry weather we were having last week. Hope to get some more images tomorrow of the later bloomers. For now we will have to make do with images of the past few weeks - I'm still getting caught up!
