Thanks @mick64! Hurray!
Any personal experience about what cold hardiness they are? Or if they should (or shouldn't) be cut back?

Hehe, thanks Chris.

I just received my reshipment of the 15 chicks I ordered. I am MUCH happier with this batch. In the previous shipment, they were very small and only 6 had any roots at all. In this shipment only 3 don't have roots. Hurray!
Does Silverine grow in a much tighter bunch on average than Red Beauty, Ruby Heart, etc.?
Those were the only ones with no roots or stolon in both shipments, so I'm just wondering if they are harder to remove chicks from, due to tight clumping or something...

Also would using Quick Start on chicks (or sedums) once they are transplanted to their permanent homes be really beneficial? I read that Kevin uses it on seedlings, but I'm unsure about the fertilizer needs of larger fresh transplants. I have a full bottle of Quick Start waiting for some of the other plants I ordered. Sticking tongue out

This isn't the most photogenic way to display semps, but oh well...

They all look nice and healthy. For me Silverine, Ruby Heart and Red Beauty all grow about the same. The rootless ones should start growing new roots quickly.
I would think the Quick Start would get them off to a nice start. But I think I would use a very diluted solution. Not sure if I would use it on the rootless ones until they start showing signs of sending roots out. But I am not sure, since I've never used it before.

Personally I think you should err on the side of very diluted!! One thing that can get these guys to bloom is over fertilizing, Kevin doesn't care that they bloom because he's utilizing them, but those of us that want plants, probably don't want them to bloom!!! (since they're mono-carpic - die after blooming!) I tip my hat to you.

Something to think about. But Kevin's seedlings don't bloom the first years, just grow and produce offsets.
However J.C., your offsets are from last year. I think I agree with Greg on this. I would worry about pushing them to hard. After all, they are tough plants. Smiling

Thanks for all the input everyone. I think I'll just save the Quick Start for the honeysuckle and things like that.
I'm in no hurry. Smiling

Looks like I'll be babysitting a whole forest of plants until the weather warms up. Sticking tongue out

I don't know anything by the way...I'm just going by my own experience with giving semps very fertile soil and having many bloom out, the hen and all the chicks on some plants!!! (so I'm thinking fertilizing may do the same thing, but I don't know if quick start is only to produce offsets and more roots or what?? Or how "focused and specific" the fertilizer is for these plants!) I rarely use plant food and then began using super thrive for my indoor plants, and it really is working, the plants are doing great! But none of them are semps! Thumbs up

I've been really busy, but I'll post more photos when time allows.

Here are four sedums that arrived recently.

Four sedums...part of the forest, huh? I love that these plants serve as the filler and/or backdrop to the focus of the main planting. I had added a small assortment in my semp bed and they grew like crazy...to the point that they were burying/hiding/camouflaging my smaller semps.
I had to pull them all out and choose smaller more tight/compact type sedums. I'm also trying the more smaller leafed/compact delospermas to be planted next to the semps.

Hehe, yeah they are some of the forest of 40+ plants I'm currently babysitting. (I've already planted about 25 semps outside that I don't have to babysit thankfully). Sticking tongue out

It is pretty crazy that the ones named "creeping" don't really spread too much but others practically run around spreading at top speed.

Here are two Zebra Grass that just came in today.

Here are some semps that I've planted outside since these pictures were taken.

JC, where you been placing and receiving semp orders from? The above looks good. Are you mixing in the zebra grass into the front or back section yard?

Thanks, I've had good and bad luck ordering semps so far, but was happy overall with those (they came from Michigan Bulb.)
I know MB have probably as many negative reviews as positive, but I've had good luck with them. Their plants are pretty small, but they have good prices, and I've also been impressed by their customer service.

I received a shipment that was damaged in transit. (Literally it looked like someone somewhere at UPS or USPS was having a really bad day, and took it out on my package. The box was damaged, then they cut it open, and apparently punched or stomped all the plants in the middle of the box. They then taped it back closed all the way around the whole box, purposely covering up every vent hole.) In fact, the Sanford's Hybrid was one of the damaged plants. You can't really tell from the picture but the crown is almost completely severed from the root ball.
MB reshipped the damaged plants pretty quickly and they should arrive between Thursday and Saturday.

As for the Zebra Grass, they will be used in the back yard in the left and right beds to basically bookend the yard/plantings.

There goes the idea of being done buying plants for the year. Sticking tongue out
Thanks!

Ha! He'll just say I don't have a plant buying problem; the only problem is that I don't have enough plants. Rolling on the floor laughing Rolling on the floor laughing
