The species rose, R. eglanteria, Sweet Briar, R. rubiginosa
The Eglantine of Shakespeare's time. I suspect David Austin played on this name for his modern rose Eglantyne like he did with some of his other rose names.
I find roses that are almost it, but not quite, so maybe it's not in there yet. I thought it was common enough that I figured somebody already entered it long ago and I'm just not looking right.
I'm not sure why I still grow this unruly thorny beast, but I've got pictures of it.
