Had quite a few blooms so far this year. Most notable for me is what I believe is Hoya camphorifolia and Hoya kerrii reverse variegated (one of my faves).

I hate losing plants....I know they are "just plants" but when you nurse them along and baby them and get them to grow, bloom, and be pretty and they die....it's like losing a friend..... Crying

Welcome Kim.

Your plants are beautiful. I was never able to get Hindu rope to flower and my Kerri isn't doing much either. My Kentiana is flowering like crazy though.

That's great, Kim. I have had my 'Hindu Rope' for awhile as well with no blooms yet. Looks like you have a knack with them. Hurray!

I had the one with the small pink flowers that smell like chocolate for 12 years. It never bloomed until i put it in a South (office) window. As long as I give it some Miracid once in a while, it blooms for me in its newer Southeast (home) window.

I am so happy that I have finally found a Hoya here. I have been looking for 4 or 5 years, asking at nurseries, etc. I found a couple in Mexico City but didn't have room to bring them back with me. I was amazed when i walked in one of my favorite nurseries yesterday and there were about 8 large Hoya sitting right at the entrance. I snapped one up as I've learned that things come and then they go and sometimes never return. So, now I have this large Hoya but no idea which one it is. I hope someone can identify it for me.

Jonna,
Great find on such a big plant !
Hard to tell until the blooms open but looks like Hoya pubicalyx Splash to me.
Post a pic when the blooms open.

Here's Hoya Imperalis blooming again. It's pretty much none stop in the summer right up thru Christmas.
13 flowers in this one cluster

What a very big and pretty Hoya Jonna! Hurray! Hurray! And just about to bloom too!
The speckled leaves on your Hoya reminds me of my Hoya pubicalyx 'Silver Pink' ..sorry no photo of its blooms..just the leaves..and I have killed mine when I left it outdoors last winter.

Hope you find the actual name of your plant..at least it is about to bloom, so a more definite ID can be made Smiling

I think the spots on the leaves are from it being watered with well water at the nursery, the water here on this limestone shelf is really, really hard and full of minerals. I've moved it to a terrace off my bedroom and it gets a few hours of filtered sun in the mornings. I hope the blooms open.

tarev: Lovely Hoya kerrii variegata! I have the solid green version that is a sporadic bloomer for me but it did have a few blooms a couple of weeks ago.

Jonna: Very nice Hoya plant! It looks like Hoya pubicalyx to me too: http://garden.org/plants/searc...

mj: Wow, that is one gorgeous bloom on your H. imperalis. I had a large imperialis awhile back but lost it to a winter freeze.

Thanks for the link Lin and the ID. It says it is Epiphytic on the data page, that might explain the long stems, without leaves, that have what looks like the climbing roots of ivy on them. I so hope it does well for me.

It's on a trellis now, I was thinking of putting that trellis under another one that is attached to the wall so it can move on to that. I need to get it a pot that fits there first though, it is still in the nursery bag now. Plants most often come in black plastic bag containers here, not pots. I'm going to leave it alone for now until the roof work is done so I can easily move it out of the way if needed.

I have one Hoya pubicalyx in a hanging basket and another in a pot with a trellis. Same for Hoya australis and they seem to be happy either way.

One of our big ones we used those plastic stake kits for growing tomatoes you can adjust. I think you can get them in different heights, but this one is 4 ft. tall.

That is a huge plant MJ, loaded with blooms too. Beautiful.

I washed off the leaves to see what that mottling is and discovered it is not residue from the hard water. I don't know if it is something wrong with the plant, bugs or something, or if it is supposed to be that way. Here's a close up of the leaves.
