Hosta 'Alakazaam' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
Added 2016 and it's doing well.
Hosta 'Allan P. McConnell' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
A small hosta which divides easily and makes a good border. New in the late 1990s.
Hosta 'Allegan Fog' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
Emerges with white centres of the leaves which gradually mist up later in the season. New in 2006.
Hosta 'Alligator Shoes' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New in 2008 and doing well.
Hosta 'Ani Machi' |
Prev Commercially available hosta |
Sometimes called 'Geisha' though that's an incorrect name. This is a fast-growing, small hosta. Always moving in the wind, thus hard to photograph. In 2013 I discovered HVX in this plant. Very subtle symptoms - nearly didn't test it. It was probably infected from the day I acquired it in 2006. |

Hosta 'Ann Kulpa' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
Bought as an impulse buy in 2014 because Ann is spelled the same way I spell it. It's doing well.
Hosta 'Aristocrat' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New in 2004. It did very well until about 2017 and since then went downhill. I've dug it and it's in a nursery bed and doing much better as of 2022.
Hosta 'Atom Smasher' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New as a gift summer 2017 and it's still quite small.
Hosta 'Avalanche' |
Prev Commercially available hosta |
New in 2008. I've grown it in a variety of locations and am not sure this one is worth growing. I did have to move it after its shade tree died as it fried but it always looks a bit tattered. 2022 update: Got rid of this one a few years ago as it didn't want to grow well. |
||
Hosta 'Baby Bunting' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New 2008 and I now have three divisions in different places in my yard.
Hosta 'Bashful' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New August 2016. This plant has small, misted leaves.
Hosta 'Bell Ringer' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
Bought this one as 'Liberty Bell' in 2010. But it had stabilized even before I got it. No matter as the members of the handbell team I direct gave me gardening money. This is a tribute to them and it's fast growing. Might be able to share it soon.
Hosta 'Blue Cadet' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
Small, fast-growing blue hosta that was new in 2005. For many years I had a small border at the edge of a small garden that was too dark and too dry. When we redid our stonework, autumn 2017, we put stones over that garden. I offered up much of my border to plant sales but have two good divisions in pots until I decide where to plant it.
Hosta 'Blue Ice' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
A nice, small, slow-growing blue hosta. New 2006 and still small.
Hosta 'Blue Ivory' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
Lovely and can eventually be quite large, but mine, at least is a slow grower. New in 2010 and smaller in 2018 than when I got it. Am thinking of trying another.
Hosta 'Blue Mouse Ears' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New 2008. I now have two divisions and I offered a few to Hort. Society auction in 2018. Love this little one.
Hosta 'Blue Shadows' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New 2004. This mature plant has looked wonderful the last few years.
Hosta 'Blue Wedgwood' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
A lovely power blue. Not a large plant or a fast grower for me, but holds it colour well. New 2005
Hosta 'Bridegroom' |
Prev Commercially available hosta |
This one always looked wilted to me. I finally gave it away.
Hosta 'Brother Stefan' |
Have Commercially available hosta |
New 2008 and was doing really well in 2017 but was mostly lost winter 17-18. Only a few wispy shoots in 2018. |
