Ann, that sounds like a really good plan. I should do that too. I could still be awake when the daylilies open, so I could dab some pollen before going to bed!

Margaret, I thought that you would also have frost at the end of June like my Dad almost always has. July was pushing it, but it is sort of normal for him. He can't keep tomatoes outside because of the weather, so he has to grow all of them in the greenhouse. He's lost way too many plants due to frost during summer. That is why he never grows any tender annuals. They just won't survive.

Thanks Rita. I took the image a few days ago, it was the only summery looking thing blooming. We've still been cool, 41 degrees yesterday morning, but mostly 50's nights and 70's days forecast for at least another week.

This had been a weird spring. Some days feel really summery and then they are interspaced with quit cool temps for this time of year. But I will take summer over winter any day.

Of course the roses have been blooming here so plenty of flower color. Thumbs up

No Natalie, this is NOT normal weather for you. Take a look at this link. Click on the little drop down menu for the year & change it to 2014 & then check 2013 & so forth.

Ann, I had checked the historical temps long before we even visited this area, and found them totally acceptable! I was also aware that there were record temps up in this range, so I wasn't totally unprepared for HOT, but to get 2 out of 3 summers like this is just not okay! Especially when I did my homework before visiting here the first time! It's okay though. I can easily leave town and get away from it! Margaret, that really does suck! Dad has had several years where he has had frost at least once every month. He doesn't get a lot of snow normally, but a few flakes count when it is in the middle of June. We had snow the first week of June in Utah not too many years ago, and I sure didn't appreciate it one bit!

It is 75 this morning and supposed to get up to 92, however, we won't be going outside today except to take our son to the airport. He flew in from San Diego on Friday and we have been enjoying his company this week-end. I spent what seemed like the whole day yesterday cooking for DH and our son for Father's Day, beginning with Swedish pancakes for breakfast and ending with blackberry cobbler for dessert last night. It was a great day.

I'm going to sound like a broken record from now into October. Our summer weather is pretty boring. They are calling for a high of 93F today.

Still trying to decide if we'll go to Dad's for a few days. Checked his weather, and saw that there was a weather warning...

BY SUNDAY MAXIMUM TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REACH THE LOWER TO THE MIDDLE 100S WHICH COULD BREAK SOME RECORD HIGHS IN THE LOWER ELEVATIONS.

We'll stay home. Don't want to deal with MIDDLE 100s. He should probably come here to visit instead, since we'll only be 110 on Sunday, instead of in the 150 range.

Linda, Dad is in zone 3a, so middle 100s would be a new feature. Rolling on the floor laughing

Sometimes those swamp coolers just laugh in your face, don't they. Whistling They sure do work good when the humidity is low though. I always appreciated the extra moisture that it put in the air in Utah.

Margaret, that is your reward for having frost the other night! It's a little warmer than perfect here, but no complaints.
