Lin, I hope you don't mind, but I was perusing this forum and I thought your H. Kerrii picture in this post was GORGEOUS! I showed my husband and he said "it looks like a cupcake". I rather agree; that, or white chocolate-covered fuzzy somethings, hehe Hilarious! 'Cupcake' sounds more appetizing, though...

I my Hoya nummularioides to a friend couple weeks loaded with buds. I can't enjoy the fragrant since my husband is sensitive/allergic to it. She has it in her bedroom which gets bright light and blooming it's head off.

@DogsNDaylilies yes, I got a system message that you had submitted it to the database. I probably thought I'd already uploaded it to the DB. Smiling Thanks again for moving it over there.

Years ago I read something about the scent of baby powder stimulating arousal, so I did a quick Internet search and found a bunch of articles that state that baby powder triggers arousal in women: http://personallifemedia.com/2... I think that means more men should be interested in this particular Hoya variety! Hilarious!

Men, write this down: Hoya calycina Big Grin

(Women need to find a hoya that smells like cinnamon buns, cheese pizza, or roast beef! Rolling on the floor laughing )

By the way, MJ, thank you for sharing both of the pictures AND the descriptions! I love fuzzy leaves and I'm definitely thinking about getting a hoya in the upcoming year sometime, so you sold me on Hoya nummularioides even before you told me it smells like lilacs. Now I feel like I HAVE to own one of those soon...

And maybe I should get a Hoya calycina...for my husband, of course. Big Grin

H. nummularioides is a good one to start with. It's easy and rewards with tons of blooms even at a small size.

Sounds like a cinnamon bun-scented Hoya might have strong market value! (I'd like one, too.) Big Grin

I'm seeing cross -marketing with Cinnabon stores....meaning Hoyas and sweet treats sold in the same place...Hoyas and sweets together...sounds CINN-ful!... Hilarious!

Okay, hoya hybridizers, on your mark, get set, go!

Hilarious! Hilarious! Hilarious!

(Yes, I'm kidding! Mostly.)

LOL...I haven't heard of a Cinnamon scented Hoya...and I grow a lot of Hoya's. But it would be nice !
Kinda reminds me of an old thread on another forum about Chocolate Basil. ( which doesn't exist) but the thread went on for several years in an mystical search for it.

I JUST found a cinnamon-scented hoya: http://www.logees.com/cinnamon...

I didn't purchase it because I'm making my main hoya purchase from Jodi at SRQ Hoyas, but I might be throwing in a hoya or two here or there if/when I purchase other houseplants, so if I end up getting this one, I'll let you know how it smells! I'm thinking that this, paired with Hoya heuschkeliana ssp. heuschkeliana (butter scent) paired with something sweet--maybe Hoya acuta, might make it smell like warm cinnamon buns.

I think I just made a Hoya recipe!!! Rolling on the floor laughing

Hoya Cinnamon Bun Recipe:

Ingredients:
1-2 Hoya Lacunosa plants http://www.logees.com/cinnamon...

1-2 Hoya Acuta plants https://srqhoyas.com/index.php...

1-2 Hoya Heuschkeliana (ssp. heuschkeliana) plants https://srqhoyas.com/index.php...

Directions:
Mix all ingredients in various places in your home. Let all grow for several months to several years. Cross your fingers they bloom at the same time. Look for peduncles and wait. Jump up and down when all three varieties bloom at the same time. Inhale carefully, as fragrance may induce appetite and desire. Rolling on the floor laughing
